    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Update: The expected repair time has come down to "closer to 2 weeks" from 4 which is good news (once the panels arrive). Also talked to my insurer about a rental car and was offered a Hybrid Camry through Budget Car Rental, or to book myself and claim back at "reasonable cost" whatever that...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Roger, cheers. I have read some fairly alarming things about right2drive and similar services - I'll try my insurer since i claimed through them, but I'll keep it right2drive in mind if they don't provide me an adequate vehicle.

    MY RWD insurance all 2k+?

I just got a quote from RAC for a SR MY with my details and it's 914 $ annually. All depends on your situation.

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Just a small update. The parts were finally ordered last week, Tesla does not give a delivery estimate. From the smash repairers experience this takes about 6 weeks. It will take another 4 weeks to complete the repairs, which seems like a long time to me. That being said my main concern is the...

Took delivery of M3 - damaged in 2 hours

Might be able to have that repaired using smart repair, but the dent will be difficult to fix as it's right on the edge. My M3P got t boned at an intersection with 520km on the clock. Was at slow speed but still significant damage (not at fault)

Tesla is Quoting a charge for warranty service on 2 day old car

Mine sure didn't! (Shanghai built) I would get it looked at for sure.

    How to trade in?

You can do it at the time of ordering, but there is no point really unless you want an idea of the amount. The offers are only valid for a limited time & additional kilometers. I did it after i got my VIN number, and didn't end up accepting since other places offered quite a bit more - i went...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Only this one, i probably expressed myself wrong. i just compared annual pricing at different insurers selecting yes at the section where they ask if you ever had any claims, and comparing those to my current premium. RAC for example only ask you if you ever had any claims regardless of fault...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

True, good point! Thanks mate, i will keep you guys posted on the repairs.. i just hope that it's going to be as good as factory, as my paint was immaculate.

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Well it's already lodged.. I could probably withdraw but not sure if its worth the hassle especially because i want choice of repairer, and also want my PPF redone at the same place. My insurance has at least verbally confirmed that they will cover it. I pay my premium yearly and am happy to...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

i highly doubt that is going to be an issue as the damage is not that bad. But i'm also not an expert. I did however have a service appointment with Tesla because of slight vibration at highway speeds which i booked before the accident happened and went to after the accident. No one there...

    Wall connector amps question

This does not look compliant to the latest revision of AS3000 to me, however it would have been before. He should have used 4mm at minimum, depending on the cable type (TPS vs V90) even 6mm and all final subcircuits need to be RCD protected now. I would have installed a 40A RCD/MCB combo and a...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Thanks for that insight, did not know about this. This is fairly worrying actually, as like @cafz said, our interests are no longer aligned. No - i only know what the smash repairer said, and the fact that the car still drives like new. I guess any potential structural damage can only really be...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Yes, just panel damage. Uncontrolled intersection with stop and go traffic in my direction. Left a gap as you are supposed to. Car came up to the intersection with the intention to turn right and took the gap as a signal to go even though he couldn’t have because of oncoming traffic. Would have...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

I can join this thread now, after my December delivered M3P with 540km on the clock was t-boned at an intersection 10 minutes after i picked the car up from being wrapped with matte PPF. The car is still driveable as the impact was at low speed and I was not at fault. Both passenger side doors...

    Mobile Charger - Amps Changed?

Some country's have limitations on continuous loads. For example in the US a 15 Amp circuit is only allowed to be continuously loaded with 80%, therefore the 12 Amp limit. I guess once the charger realizes it's being used in AUS it unlocks the full 15 Amp charging current.

    BP Pulse Network

Tritium chargers don't have the best reputation internationally, not just here. I have plenty of bad experiences with them myself. My home city Hamburg, Germany installed tons of 50kW Tritium chargers and only a few years later they are tearing them down again, replacing them with Siemens HPC...

    BP Pulse Network

Pretty disappointing they are only 75KW each? The ones i used in Germany (Aral Pulse, subsidiary of BP) were always 300KW Alpitronic Hyperchargers. 2x CCS, 1x Chademo. They worked rather well, 150kW if shared obviously.

Model 3 Performance - Q2/3 2022 LG battery, significantly reduced power at upper end

Interesting. I am currently back home in Germany and driving a '21 M3P, and was surprised by the strong acceleration at Autobahn speeds, but feel like my brand new OZ delivered M3P is a tad more face melting at lower speeds. Might be time to finally buy a dragy.

nope, Europe bound M3s have no USS and no physical horn either (superhorn instead)

Gotta do the whole car with Matte, would look a bit weird otherwise. It's around 8000$ at a reputable Shop including tint. Have gotten quotes in between 5 and 10k.

My car didn't show up on RAV until 2 weeks after landing in Fremantle. I went with Queensland country bank green car loan 4.5% comparison rate, variable - no ongoing fees. Seems like they increased it to 4.77% now. They were a bit slow with the whole process but overall good so far. (And...

Charging at home at rented house [in Australia]

I got permission to install a 15A outlet from the owner easily. Just wrote a letter to the REA saying i would pay for it and where exactly it was going to go and got approval the day after. They would be stupid to turn you down. Cost was about 2 weeks worth of rent for me. (i have been at this...

Purchase Tasks - do these need to be done immediately?

Tesla doesn't do personalised plates anymore. You will have to do that after you delivery. @Power Hungry no, you will loose your deposit as per order agreement.

afaik, the dashcam only saves the last hour of driving and constantly gets overwritten. All a bigger drive does is it allows for more saved dash cam clips & sentry recordings.

Way after. The ship docked in Fremantle 15/11 and only just now got RAV entry. It should be sitting in a CEVA yard at the moment. Delivery is booked for the 7th.

Also: My VIN has finally appeared on the RAV. 377kW power - nice They definitely have been in Shanghai as well, but for Europe - seems like we are still getting the 22. First deliveries in Perth will be mid next week.

A fact that still baffles me as a German expat. Back home you have to complete a first aid course as part of getting your drivers licence (which you need to attend driving school for) and you are also required to have a first aid kit, hi vis vest & warning triangle in your car at all times...

Ground Clearance and Steep Driveways - Tesla 3

yes, i have had some issues with a M3P on a steep driveway. The issue with the M3(P) is it's long wheelbase, the clearance itself is actually pretty good. Usually it's only the mudguards that scrape though, which are easily replaceable.
  45. blubbernator

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

You have to pay a minimum of 2 days prior taking delivery at which point you would have had a VIN for weeks. At least here in AUS.

How far away are we from FSD. Would you option now?

IMHO not possible with their current hardware. I don't get why people want to pay (heaps too) to be beta if not alpha testers. Hot take: By the time FSD works (here) you will have another car anyway.
