Same message is written twice, once upside down and you need to read it both ways to get the full message above. It's tough to make out all the grammar but I'm confident of the words.

I was given a clue from "Nick" last night via email.

It seems we were on the right track with the "one" color approach, but they have to sum to exactly 85 or 9. So that would mean 17 grays, or 85 reds for the 85 total. And 3 Whites or 9 reds for the 9 total. The part that is not clear is the "or" part. The initial audio recording asked for 85, then the more recent clue mentioned "85 or 9".

Start with 9 total, and then see what happens? But somehow I think we still need to go for the 85....

As an aside, I also realized the Nick may have my email address because I used it to respond to the original craigslist ad related to the original puzzle. So my earlier theories about who could have my email are not really relevant.

So far it has been unique pictures, one post per member, no duplicates. I'm not sure about same vs different cars.

I wasn't given any information other than a strong reminder that it is "one" color that must "total" to 85 or 9.

( regenerator = "Stirling steam engine?". Used to power the transmitter built into the robot? Seeming more like a late 1800s steam-punk vision we have here. Something from Tesla's era... )

A few more random thoughts before I'm off to ski for the rest of the week.

I think that all of these clues are ultimately leading us to a place (along the coast). There have been references to a transmitter, so maybe someone has to go to a place and listen on a certain frequency. Maybe 85.9? One solution to the color puzzle is 17 which is a highway in California that leads to Santa Cruz, on the coast. Both highways 85 and 9 intersect 17.

Any volunteer want to drive along highway 17 between highway 85 and 9, with their radio tuned to 85.9 and see if you hear anything? :)
