2015 total is through end of Q3. Add in about 4500 each for Oct and Nov and 2000 for Dec (11000) and it should be just over 100K.

Why do you have such a low number for Dec when it should be the biggest month ever?

Guessing he is including December estimate through today, since the question was about how many Model S have been sold "as of December 2015", with no specific date, and then you mentioned "100k by now." This, as opposed to December estimate through December 31.

That was "through today, roughly Dec 12". I expect about 5510 delivered in Dec. (14510 for Q4 - to match my 2015 Prediction Competition guess grand total of 47690)

Wait, how can owners be taking delivery of vehicles with VINs above 110,000 and yet the numbers only add up to 90 K? Sure, some are manufacturers, loaners, etc. but over 20 K of them? Don't think so

Ah, ok. 90 K through end of Q3. But 20 K since then? Wow they're really churning through deliveries. Nice.

Vin #s have holes and gaps.

Based on production numbers given by Tesla, and high Vin # of each quarter, I compute that from Q4 2013 to end of Q3 2015, about 7500 Vin #s were abandoned. I have the data if you need to see it.

The biggest gap were abandoned Vin #s assigned during Q3 and Q4 of 2014 as people switched from RWD to DWD models. Also, Vin # assignment is done by Tesla much earlier than other auto manufacturers. They apply a Vin # to your order long before a car is built (in some cases). Some may cancel an order or they may even decide to do "clean vins" at times.
