Tracking P85D delivery thread

FYI, there's a fairly strong storm swiping through Northern California today. Half of SF is without power. I'm hoping the Fremont factory isn't too badly affected, but I'm guessing the stage of inspection during which they take cars out to the track is being put on hold. I hope this doesn't delay deliveries even further! I've just emailed my DS for an update, let's see if he says anything about the storm.

It's the perfect time to test those Pilot Sports under heavy rain!
Not with my car please!

I initially had the same issues with my DS and ended up sending feedback to Jerome about this. He responded fairly quickly, copying the senior manager of global delivery experience, who then scheduled a call with me to go over the issues and address them. My DS has since been a lot more responsive!

Sorry I didn't mean motor4toys was a Tesla event. I was referring to the event around the P85D, either it was still a Tesla-owned car that they decided to drive to motor4toys as a showcase of the latest and greatest, or it was being delivered to a Teala employee at the show. Why else would there be so many Tesla employees there?

The black P85D was a dealer car & only 1 Tesla employee was at the event & in the picture, everyone else wearing Tesla jackets are owners.

I don't think this was a customer car and the article is using the original posting on TMC as a source. Might be an employee who has been driving a demo or beta car or whatever. The only information from DSs and Tesla HQ that seems to be consistent is that the P85D has not been delivered and is only now starting to role again. As someone who was fairly early in the build cycle and whose car was initially completed I'm still sitting in production with no feedback on my delivery date. I suspect we are still days away from the first delivery though my initial prediction was for yesterday :-(

Sorry, I didn't read this before my earlier post but I'm still not clear. Are you saying the P85D owner was a Tesla employee or just a normal non-Tesla owner? I guess if he was a real owner its possible that he was just ahead of those of us who were nearly loaded onto a truck, i.e. he got delivery before the stoppage. Wonder if he needs to bring it to a service center now.

White P85D belongs to an owner who brought his car to the event.

Spoke to the delivery specialist at my local SC. According to the computer, they are targeting a late December (26th to 30th) delivery date. Purely speculation, but perhaps the cars in the first batch have to undergo significant reworking or need to be rebuilt. My car entered production 11/21 and as late as 12/3 was on track for delivery 12/4 so clearly there's more going on than just extended inspection and testing.

I was wondering where I stood in the time line of delivery. I just got the docu sign email today and e-signed it. Unfortunately mine still has go across the Pacific to Hawaii. My DS said it depends on what ship it gets on. When did everyones else docu sign get sent?
thanks!

I dont think it will be recaro that have manufactured the seats personally. I know it was listed on an early sticker, but its not on the later stickers, and it is clear evidence that its a Company called futur or somtheing like that who has made them?

I think it has to do with the logistics of running a production line.

When I was at the Lotus factory, there were several cars with 'temporary' parts, and large stickers to notify as such. Apparently it is better to run the car through the line and use a temp or substitute part, then park the car and fix later, than it is to take it out of the line and wait until the one part turns up.

I expect it is something similar at play here.

I have some good news!!

My DS just called me to schedule me for delivery tomorrow morning, Friday December 12th at 9am

Oh, and it is confirmed that I will NOT have a heated steering wheel, and that standard (non-performance) Nappa leather seats were installed.
