I have a 2018 model 3 and just got a 2023 MYP. Can the homelink from Model 3 be transferred to the Model Y? Is the part number same. It is compatible? Dont want to take everything apart and transfer it is not possible.
This sentence from Tesla's Homelink website implies the Model 3 and Model Y Homelink units are the same:
"Come and go with easy access. Connect your Model 3 or Model Y to your garage door, gate system and other radio-frequency (RF) controlled devices with the fully integrated HomeLink® module." https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-3_y-automatic-garage-opener
All I can tell you is that it's exactly the same between a 21 and 23 Y. I believe Tesla buys the part from a 3rd party so the model change wouldn't necessarily impact a sourced part. It only take about 15 minutes to remove the tub and take out the part so you're not risking much removing it.

Can confirm. I just swapped my 2018 3 Homelink module to 2023 3 and it’s working. 2018 requires getting into the front bumper area though so it’s a little harder to get out.

DIY. YouTube has a good explanation how to do it. Enter service mode, tap low voltage, homelink retrofit, hold brake and right turn signal, screen resets, exit/enter vehicle, then normal process of using your opener remote and learn button on the opener to program it to your home.
Interesting thread. If you moved the device from one car to another, would it require reprogramming to your garage door opener, or is the pairing within the device itself?

When you removed the module from your 3 did you first go into service mode and uninstall homelink? I can’t find any DIY instructions on removing Homelink.
While not likely, if I got another Tesla I could take my 2018 Model 3’s Homelink, Mobile Charger with adapters, radar, passenger lumbar support, orange roof when wet, center dashboard speaker, factory floor mats, and USS with me amiright?
