Transmitter in HPWC wand not working

I think the transmitter in my HPWC wand is not working. The port door does not open when I click the button. The port door works fine at Superchargers.

Who fixed these these sort of issues? Do I call Tesla Mobile service or some place else?

Try placing the wand to the rear and above the charger port and see if it works better.

When I very first got the car I had a similar experience. I just kept trying and eventually it started to work with the single exception of the time, just after installation of the HPWC, when I picked up the connector from the MC by mistake.

FWIW, this has been working fine for 3-4 months. This inability to trigger opening the charge door is new.

It seems that if I press the button when I am a little further away, say 2-3 feet versus around 1 foot it works better. But same 1 foot distance and position worked fine at 3 Superchargers.

Perhaps the SC have a stronger signal than the HPWC does.

Again mine does this about 5% of the time and usually pointing it up and to the back of the charger port door makes it work. I think I am almost naturally pointing it in that area now at home.

It was/is sporadic. Was great for months and then it would jump off the deep end for a few days. Kind of random.

2017 X P100D. Never a problem, NOW it will not open except from dashboard.

You can also just press on the front of the charge port door. You also can open the charge port with the key fob. No need to climb into the car.

Mine has stopped working since 2019.12.1.1

I had the same problem and took it to the SC where they 're-calibrated' something. It's working fine again. The range is a couple of metres and apparently if one is clicked in the workshop the ports on a number of cars will open!

Our 2018 X (MCU2) has intermittent problems opening the charging port using our Signature Gen 2 HPWC.

Our 2017 S (MCU1) hasn't had any problems opening the charging port using our standard Gen 2 HPWC.

The charging port problems with our X started with the recent software changes - and sometimes works - and most of the time doesn't.

Well the OP claimed to have a 2017 XP100, so I figured it was safe

This is a known problem with some of the software updates such as 2019.12.1. I also saw it on 2019.12.2 on my X. Now that my car updated to 2019.16.2, it appears to be working again.

Mine almost never worked with my 2018 Model X until I tried what joyboy210 suggested. I am now pushing the button from more like 2 feet away from the charge port and it works everytime.
