I had been a silent daily visitor of this site for a few years now. We finally took the plunge to order a Model X last December after being a reservation holder for more than 2 years. I had learned every aspect of the X by reading all the useful posts on this site.

We picked up our Model X exactly one week ago. Absolutely amazed by the car. The speed of supercharging is even faster than I expected! Upon coming back home, I noticed that the seat belt on both sides of the second row is twisted (photo attached). Does anyone know if this is something I need to take to the service center or I could fix it at home? I have not figured out how to straighten it out myself. The car is almost flawless except the seat belt, occasionally creaking FWDs, and ghosting windshield (which does not go away by adjusting seating position but does not bother me too much as long as I focus on driving and do not think about it).

This has eventually happened in every car I've owned - it's not that the seatbelt is backwards. The buckle on it has rotated. Just rotate it back (which takes a little effort, but it's just fabric. Let it know who is boss. :) )

I would let the service center know it was delivered this way. I would assume they let the factory know what issues they saw in cars delivered through their location. They should also be checking for that. So letting them know means it will probably get a double-check for future customers. Send them the pic, let them know you fixed it, but wanted to let them know. That will put you on the 'customers we like' list. :)

Thanks for the super fast reply. In this case, I don't think it is the buckle that rotated. It seems to be the belt itself that rotated. So I will have to rotate the belt from the shoulder-level opening where it comes out of the seat. The seat belt for the middle seat looks normal which is what I used as a benchmark for what a correct installation should look like. But I could be wrong.

I sent the picture two days ago to my delivery specialist but have not heard back. Also, let them know about the ghosting windshield.

This happened to me. You won't be able to rotate the buckle. I tried and so did the service advisor. The belt has been rotated. I fixed it by extending the belt as far as it would go and then folded it on itself and fed it beck in. After that, if I pulled the belt all the way out, it seemed to have kept that rotation. Its weird but worked for me.

Something is up with their seat belt mechanism. For me, our Model X was initially delivered with all seat belts fine. But then shortly after delivery one of the belts flipped so it was facing the wrong way, then somehow one day I noticed another of the belts was twisted like 4 times around. It was something inside the mechanism that was up, they fixed it at the service center when I was there for other stuff. But definitely something with the mechanism.

We had this. Service center fixed it and said they had seen a few instances of this.

I've had my MX for a year now (as of today!) and had the same issue one time after my grandkids were in the center row seats.
Like VBXATL above, I pulled the strap out as far as possible, folded the strap to lay flat, then let the strap return. I then pulled it out fully once again to see if all was ok. Yup, all ok.

I don't think this is a Tesla issue. I have seen this same issue on other vehicles like my Toyota FJ Cruiser and Audi A6. I believe it happens because the seat belt user doesn't pull it out straight, or flips it over when using it, etc. The same fix worked on my Toyota and Audi.

Thanks to all for the tips. I pulled the strap all the way out, folded, and let it return. It solved the issue on both seats and saved me a trip to service center.

I have this issue as well and the "extend all the way out and feed back in" method has always worked to sort it out. However, the other day, a friend of mine decided to rotate the buckle after discovering the twist - Now, I have an appointment to take it to the service center tomorrow. This is definitely a design flaw on Tesla's part but I will do my part and warn each and every passenger who rides in my in the second row from now on...

Just had this happen today - pulled it out all the way as you suggested, rotated, and fed back in. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
