They just renamed the camera to "Not-a-camera".EM says that it is on its way - Tesla would appear to have worked around it. I don't think that recognising a sign with '30' on it is any different to recognising a sign with 'STOP' on it.
My eyes can detect the speed limit and I can control my actions based upon what I can see. Am I infringing their patent? Sorry its BLX! Ps Audi have done it for years and only seem to charge £150 for the option. Many industries have problems with often very basic and wide ranging patents that were often granted some time ago.
Usually they follow the same dance where they try to reach agreement with the patent owner, fail, try to work around it, fail, then eventually spend the time and money to get the original patent revoked.
A whole business model has built up around acquiring failed/failing businesses that happen to have older wide-ranging but basic patents and then using them to extort money and other advantages from companies currently making money in a related manner.
I've been dragged into a few of these over the years and they waste a lot of time and money unfortunately and ultimately have nothing to do with protecting the rights of genuine inventors.
Fair enough but presumably BMW and many others just pay them to use it? I paid £220 iirc for the option in the BMW and I’d be prepared to pay that again. Seems better value than £5800 for FSD.I think Mobileye has a patent?
Looks like they have the shout on auto dipping hadlights as well. Good job no one infringed that one!My eyes can detect the speed limit and I can control my actions based upon what I can see. Am I infringing their patent? Sorry its BLX! Ps Audi have done it for years and only seem to charge £150 for the option.
If Google use open street maps they are very accurate. I would like to see a system which started to slow before the sign though.....the mapsjmaps aren't accurate enough (partly due to them rarely being updated) to support it.
Elon said recently that Tesla is very close to having its own speed sign recognition system.I can't help wishing Elon would just license the patent and move onto other things.
FSD will never be a thing without road sign recognition. The maps just aren't accurate enough (partly due to them rarely being updated) to support it.
Software version 2020.20.5 was just detected on a Tesla Model S 85D in Illinois United States. The highest previous version was 2020.20.1. Follow the 2020.20.5 release at TeslaFi.com Firmware Tracker
Crap! Wise move by me, updating seems to take ages on this car. Yup I parked to charge and it's stopped the charge to update :/I have a loaner Model X P100D today for 10-15 days (fixing my M3 leaking boot and water in boot lid) anyway, the car is just now updating to 2020.20.1

Not sure what it will bring to a 2017 MX
Sadly, it doesn’t. Missed out on a bit of free charge yesterday when the sun reappeared after disappearing for long enough for the car to go to sleep.Be interested to know if car now wakes for charge from sleep with 2020.20
Release notes said:GPS update
We have updated your car’s GPS to improve its stability and tracking. Please note that with this update, the GPS in your car will temporarily recalibrate once after the update, which might cause a few minutes delay in where updating your car’s position is displayed on the map.
