I dropped by one of the Tesla stores this weekend to get some clarification on the overall process. Here's what I got (which may or may not clarify some questions):

A. Delivery Related
1. There are some Tesla locations that only do at-home deliveries. For example, the one at the Bellevue Square apparently does deliveries there but the one in north Bellevue/ south Redmond only performs at-home deliveries. Not sure if people are able to select a delivery option once their VIN is assigned but this doesn't seem to be the case.
2. The rep stated that payment must be confirmed before they can bring the car to the house. This is strange because you have a choice of doing a Cashier's check or a bank transfer, the latter which can be completed prior to the person driving the car over. A Cashier's check can be handed to the driver upon arrival but I guess it means that you can't enter the car without giving them the check first?
3. After the vehicle arrives at the destination (store), they are expected to deliver the car withing 3-6 days. If you can't accept it within that time, that car will be assigned to someone else and you will be placed at the top of the queue (not back of the list) for a new VIN. ***I wouldn't count on this one.....
4. You have either 24 hours or 100 miles (whichever comes first) to file any requests for a fix. I'm not sure what happens when things start to fall apart after the first 24 hours....

B. EDD Related
1. I have an EDD of Dec 11 - Dec 31 on a 5/4 order date for a MSLR White/White/19's/FSD. There are others in different forum topics that have the same or nearly the same config that have a Nov 14 - Mid Dec EDD but are located in Florida. I have no idea why this is the case given that delivery to FL would appear to take longer than WA... Perhaps there are more orders in FL than WA and so it's easier to fill up a truck? I have no idea but I'm not super thrilled about that one.
2. The rep said they checked what they call a "soft match" in their system and mine simply says "December". She added that it could be sometime before or around Dec 11 or within the Dec 11 - Dec 31 timeline but doesn't have any other information than that.
3. EDD isn't very clear now, so the rep said to not worry about the Financing approval until you get closer to that timeline. This is a bit different from what other SA's have said in the past where they claimed that your full profile needed to be updated to be assigned a VIN. Not sure what to believe but I don't really want to apply for a loan for the third time.
4. VINs are assigned when the vehicle has completed production and is about to head to the destination. It then takes about 2 weeks for that vehicle to arrive to the destination. So basically, once you get a VIN, you could get the car within 2-3 weeks.

I'm not super thrilled about A3, especially since many of us are expecting the car in Dec, right around the holidays. I guess it means that you shouldn't plan to take long vacations unless you're ok changing that schedule to come back for a delivery. First world problems are tough.
Thanks for all the info. Good reading!

Ordered my MSM/Black/19" in late May and have the same exact EDD as you. I'm closer to the Portland SC, so I'll be picking up there.

I'm wondering if Florida is getting earlier deliveries than us PNW orders because they have less orders to fill?

Your config is interesting. We ordered pretty close but yours isn't a white interior and yet you have a Dec 11 - Dec 31 just like me. Everyone has been talking about how the white interiors have been the cause of the LR delay but your order seems to debunk that claim.

ahh, the confusion and undesired assumptions continue.

I've seen the same as well. I used to think the exterior paint color was the difference, but that got debunked as well.

I'm now thinking that Tesla has a geographic schedule set for LRs and our area just happens to have the Dec range. Orrr, someone in the EDD department is just pounding their fists on a keyboard. I'm leaning toward the latter.

I have wondered about the geographical schedule as well and I am closer to Portland too. I ordered about 3 months after you and very similar EDD, which doesn't make sense. Either yours should move up or mine will move out to later. Who knows!!

What's your config and order date btw? If it's a near identical order around the same order date then I guess that's 2 data points which would suggest that this date is possibly accurate. However, if your order date was, for example in July, then I don't know if mine will be pushed up, yours will be pushed out, the batch going to WA is just all consolidated somehow, or we're both doomed for another delay.

Regarding the Lynnwood delivery, I'm not sure since I didn't even know that I was slated for an at-home delivery until I actually went to this SC. Matter of fact, I live 3 min away from this place as well so I had just assumed that I would be picking it up there.

Many people on the forum were talking about changing their pickup location and I really had no idea if this was even an option for me. I certainly don't have any buttons right now and don't recall picking a place when I placed the order. Did you get an option to select a location?

My order date: 7/21/21 (RN1153) for MSM/cream/19" wheels/FSD. I previously had order for Plaid+ 9/23/2020 (RN1139), which I canceled for LR MS when EM canceled the Plaid+. I would have followed through with Plaid if it had the 4680 batteries. For me range is more important than the 1.99 second 0-60 time, and the LR is plenty fast for me.
I live off he Interurban trail in Edmonds, WA. My first MS was unable to be delivered due to the narrow streets preventing the truck's access, and I had to pick up my 2012 MS on Hwy 99 due to that issue. Hopefully I have an option to pick it up at the Lynwood SC. My second MS and M3 were picked up at the Seattle SC.

How many of you check Tesla status first thing in the morning at your phone while still in bed?😂 i do everyday, and its been boring from last week. No ping pong on dates. Stays same. Got so use to of seeing dates flipping, without that its boring now.😉

It's a bit infuriating to see people with later orders getting a VIN. Just don't quite understand the logic.

- I get that Plaids are coming out first, so a later RN# but for Plaid makes sense.
- I get that LR non white interiors may be coming out sooner, so that makes sense.
- I don't get why an LR/White interior with a later RN# (sometimes a few weeks or even several months after) gets an EDD of Nov while mine is still stuck at Dec.

Mine is blk/blk still December

I don't see everyone's order updated on the spreadsheet but i'm guessing that "most" WA LR orders are just bundled up in Dec. That's some royal garbage right there.
Someone i read yesterday his still EDD october 24 to November 1 , picking un in bellevue but no VIN yet. In spread sheet to , last time i checked there was 7 Washington orders for MSLR. Maybe thats why because so few orders. Just guessing
