I think clear wheel covers would look horrible after the first rain storm.

I think these renderings should have a very clear stamp saying they are unofficial concept renderings. If these start floating around like something "legit" it might be bad.

What if they would draw some kind of wheel design on the wheel cover itself ? something similar to AUDI RSQ design.
In that car, I wasn't bothered that it had wheel covers.

I like that last one although I also like the styling of the Australian Immortus solar car, they used completely hidden wheels, but with fake wheels/tires just to retain the style elements.
Rather like the nosecone on the model S

It's funny how people have a hard time accepting a complete change, and would rather have fake wheels, grill, etc than to just do away with them when it would make a better car. I'm ok with going radically different. I'd be ok with having a completely smooth car if it meant getting extra range.

That said, with Chevy launching a $37,500 EV that gets over 200 miles range and looks pretty much like a normal Honda Fit, I'd hope Tesla, with all it's EV engineering experience, the gigafactory for batteries and no fear of radical designs, could give us a $35,000 car with 300+ miles with an extreme aero design.

Its not that its boring with just metal instead of wheels - the majority of car buyers are relatively conservative.
Look at all the complaints about the Model X not having a nose cone !

Musk did say it wouldn't look like other cars. I'm just hoping it's far from that. That would make a good design for a Toyota EV though
