You can use a CC for the $2,500 reservation payment (when you order your car) but I don't think you can use a CC for the down payment on delivery day.

I reserved an X in April of 2015 and put the $5000 on my card. In April 2016, I ordered an S and put $2500 on my card. I ended up canceling the X reservation and moved the $5000 over to the S order, so I did $7500 total on my card in two transactions.

Considering that you can get 2% cash back for pretty much any credit card charge you can earn miles for I'm guessing that cost you a whole lot more than $80. I also stick to the airline miles cards, but not for the miles themselves but rather for the elite status (sky club access, early boarding, upgrades, etc.). Those are the things that can make flying bearable.

I'm grandfathered in with an old card that gets double or triple miles for nearly all of my purchases. I also use their online site and app to get bonus miles so I usually earn 8 or more miles per dollar. Some purchases are 25 miles or more per dollar.

I earn about a thousand miles a month on dog food purchases alone.

Yep, did LA to South Africa on Virgin via LHR 4x all in their Upper Class and a bunch of trips to Sydney, Melbourne, Europe etc. all in first - hard to go back to coach =)
