So, my 2013 has been in the shop... a lot...

Went to use my wipers, which, have actually never worked all that well... skips, misses, stuck, etc. I've tried multiple blades from the most expensive I can find, to the cheapest, all with the same results.

Goes in next week... I'm hoping for a new wiper motor.

Does anyone know of any changes to it, since the 'early' cars?

thanks.

Ok, this is not good. A friend's S had the same problem... his was caused by the "other" driver, ahem, bringing the S to the car wash.
The Other Driver did not turn off rain sensing wipers on the wiper stalk. The Wipers turned on during the wash cycle and the wiper motor was FUBAR'ed as a result, due to the wipers being caught under heavy wet flails, etc. The end result was wipers that malfuctioned similar to your symptoms, with the AR-15 automatic rifle sound as the gears skipped.

I am not saying that is what caused yours to go bad.... but it is really important to note.
