Checklist for travel in France - advice appreciated

The glue foot forward as if it was on the windscreen. Looks backwards but works ;-)

Checklist for travel in France - advice appreciated

I'll second the motion for the Ulys tag. Works a treat in France and Spain. Big plus is their "Relax" feature for €5 a month that does motorway recovery... having given up on Tesla Roadside and AA (Green Flag untested thus far). Ours clips to the M3's visor (awkwardly) but works fine. No...

Model 3 poll - have you changed battery

The Force us with us... but just in case, I am now carrying a MN21, jumper battery, 10mm spanner and a 12V battery - long expeditions thru France and Spain and horror stories about Tesla support have made me paranoid ;-)

Checklist for travel in France - advice appreciated

Clips on the visor, a bit awkwardly. We use the Ulys tag as it has French motorway recovery for 5€ a month

Model Y Hankook tyres - how many miles would you expect from them?

I've got a 2020 M3 Long Range... 30K miles currently, lots of those miles on motorways at sane speeds. Wife insists on Chill Mode around town ;-) I switch to winters as required but relatively few miles done during cold weather. Never rotated. I've replaced two tyres - due to bad bad...

Yea, verily, and thus is it written. Seek and ye shall find ;-)

Found the audio settings. Wahoo go me

Sometimes I think there should be an exam on the manual contents before collection. A quick ten questions (just to prove that the file was openned), pass could be 80% and then get your cards ;-)

Ceramic Coating - Yes or No

The remedy for bird poop and slight scuffs is Paint Protection Film. Some insurers become aroused if they think you are wrapping the car (different colour?) but PPF seems to be OK with mine, at least

    Cabin overheat protection, how to?

Yup, that's the lamentable situation as described to me by Tesla in Spain last summer. Either have your car protected or, if stuck parking in the sun, have your seats melt :-(

2019 SR+ nearly as dead as a dead thing

I carry a little MN21 12V battery in my pocket for frunk popping. Inside the frunk I keep a 12V jump starter. And in the boot of my 3 year old M3, I carry a 12V battery on long trips to avoid the pain of rainy Sunday nights in back-of-beyond France waiting for recovery;-) And a Road Hero...

Europe Trip Planner - Gathering your thoughts on essentials

We've done UK to France and Spain a dozen times. EuroTunnel, Plymouth to Caen ferry and the ferry to Santander. If border nonsense continues, might try the ferry to Dieppe. Totally no hassle with SCs and Destination Chargers. Solar at our place in Spain makes our destination charging free...

Touchscreen not responding to touches randomly

This happened to me... phantom touch is the name of the phenomenon. I had a video of the display going haywire but completely unblemished YET when the Barcelona SC got to it there was a huge crack so charged me €1400 for what should have been a warranty replacement. Now that I have time on my...

    2020 M3 - Control Arm Squeak

    Autopilot raised at PMQs

Yup, driving the car is a pleasure. I've taken a dozen 1000 trips to Spain and back and enjoy AP and (fool) FSD, engaged maybe 80% of the time, and know its foibles. Random acts of AP violence have decreased rapidly in the last year. It's for motorways and it won't lane change unless you tell...

Can anyone diagnose this damage cause? - we suspect during Tesla service

Best of luck... I have a video of an intact but misbehaving display (aka phantom touch) but when I went to collect the car it was physically cracked/broken and therefore not covered under warranty :-( Will be seeing them in court about that...

Idiots in Carparks (why we can't have nice things)

Any chance of cams in the car park owned by the business there? In the US, lots of car park vandals get done for "hit and run" depending on the seriousness.

Somewhere to do modifications in the South East of England

I know how you feel - I use a real, genuine bunch of spanner smiths in Harpenden, near Luton: Classic Car Solutions. They have done work on my 3 and I have seen the quality of work they do and it all looks puka. They have even electrified some ICE cars.

Big difference between US and China build quality?

I second the motion. My 2020 (March purchase) is all good vis a vis panel gaps, paint quality, etc. I like the chrome ;-) And the early heat pumps - meh

Touchscreen not responding to touches randomly

OMFG keep me in the loop on this. I took mine the the Barcelona Service Centre with the same, increasingly eggregious, complaint... and they cracked it and told me it was because of my garage door openner velcroed to the back. Several UK service techs said that "phantom touch" behaviour is a...

Call it paint protection film. That might make a difference. It's the colour change wraps that seem to get their backs up.

What are the best public charging services and available discounts for someone needs to charge publically for a short while?

They all have +s and -s. I like ABRP for planning but Electromaps does a great job for impromptu charging.

Public charging - experiences in Oct 22

Ah, yes, good idea but alas, the level of support Tesla provides for Destination Charger sites is below the obvious need. See my recent post summarising my patchy experience in IoW, France and Spain. It may be a sign o'the times but we have found several DCs throttled back to 4kw instead of...

    Kia EV6

YMMV is considerably different from mine and my 20 vintage Fremont car. My cringe factor is ever having to use Tesla service again after discovering the non-responsiveness of their roadside care (now travel with a Road Hero, plug set and, now that it is 2 year old, a spare 12 V battery) and...

    Self-driving cars UK Discussion

I paid for FSD but we certainly don't have it. OTOH I use what I have to go between UK and Spain (about 80pc Nav on AP) and I sure do enjoy the ride in the M3 more than our Forester (that has to come home annually for it's MOT)
