Lets not complain about SC costs...

Currently on holiday in and around Lake Como. Lovely place, surprisingly reasonable food/hotel costs......Loads of EV chargers around, 8 22KW posts near where we are staying and hardly used, and I can see why. Nearest SC is 30 minutes up the road, that'll do me fine as an excuse to get away...

European road trip in our 5 year old 75D X.

Not much to say apart from the fact Norway is the most beautiful country I have ever driven in, and our X is the best family road trip car we have owned. Only day 3 out of 10 in Norway, so plenty more to come, this is has to be MUST DO road trip for any Tesla owners.

Do we trust Tesla with our cars/data??!!

A few years ago back during one of many many services visits it seemed like Tesla could access/see my car even when I have disabled 'remote access', didn't think much of that. The last time I took my car into a service centre it was susprising to learn they didn't need the key, as they could...

    The road trip thread....

I wonder if we should have a road trip thread on here, as given the news items that's are constantly on all the time a bit of Escapsim is always good :) I know a few people on here regularly go on long trips to Europe, would be good to share tips and give ideas/help to others. I'll start...

Stadia now runs the MCU...Since when!!

I thought I try logging in to my Stadia account again on the MCU since Google Logins now work. Hummm so Stadia now loads, but no input method.... ....what would happen if I just plug in the Stadia controller?? WTF, need to try this proper when I get some free time at a SC with good LTE...

Out of warranty repair cost - Nottingham Service Centre :)

So I did this to the car when rushing around a few weeks ago, purely my fault didn't see a parking column despite various beepers going off. Essentially the plastic trim around the passenger rear door damaged, cheapest part on eBay was £90, but I didn't really fancy stripping the part my self...

Nottingham SC, is it 'open' to wait or still socially distanced?

I've got a minor repair booked at Nottingham Service Centre next week. Does anyone know if they are 'open' to customers now, or is it a drop off only setup?

Extended warranty or not? 2017 X

Our X is going to be 4 years old end of this month, times fly when you are having fun :). It however also means the factory warranty is due to expire, there is an option to extend the warranty to 4 years for $90/month here in England. The extended warranty doesn't cover air suspension or...

Any one driven to Norway - What charging Apps/Cards do I need?

Summer 2021 isn't quite over yet, but am not planning the 2022 Summer road trip to Norway. The plan is to get cross over at Harwich to Hook of Holland overnight, than drive up to Copenhagen to get the ferry across to Oslo (my wife like boats). We'll than have anything up to 10 days+ to spend...

1020 miles summer road trip in a 4 year old smallest battery Model X!

Guy Martin recently said EVs are only good for 50 mile trips....We've just arrived home after a 1020bmile summer holiday road trip to the Scottish Highlands from the Midlands in our 4 year old 75D X with zero issues. We had rain, mini floods, road closures, traffic (lots of traffic), tantrums...

    Is Karaoke gone?

May be its just my car but where Karaoke gone? It was there earlier this week but now I cannot see it? Also the 'Theater' section has gone blank?

10 year 100K warranty from Lexus - will Tesla ever offer anything close to it?

This appeared in my mail box, I've checked, checked again, and than again.....but it seems real. Lexus will now put an additional 1 year manufacture backed warranty on our 2015 Lexus IS300H as long as I get it serviced at a Lexus dealer, and it appears the 1 year extension is applied after...

Affordable, 7 seater alternative EV to the X.

Occasion I've seen posts on here about people wanting an X with normal doors, less features etc. Just seen this is now on sale in England......on paper its fab, cheap, practical, more than enough range for England, almost certainly more reliable than the X........ This is the perfect reminder...

Best use of 22inch wheel accessories in winter....

Its cold, its snowing, there are pot holes everywhere 22inch wheels are nothing but trouble in this weather, however I found a good use for at least part of the wheels!! Hope everyone has had a fun in the snow, makes a good distraction from the daily news.

Remembered why the X is such a good family car :)

This is why I love our X. First family weekend trip out since COVID lock down. UK weather means rain is guaranteed, so instead had a lovely picnic in the car, chilling to music, watching world go by. Than got the bike for my daughter when the rain finally lightened. Short of a proper van...

This is why you shouldn't tow in a Tesla without a type approved tow hitch!!

Plenty of grunt, but not great control....

The most efficient EV I own......

…….Is not our X, with all the wind/rain/cold currently close to 2 miles per kWh in energy consumption excluding vampire drain :). But last weekend my other EV arrived and I've been putting it to good use this week on the commute to work…… It has a battery has 252Wh when full. Start of the...

What were you driving at the start of the '10s.....

Since we are about exit the '10s it would be a good time to recap on how much money people have wasted (or not) on cars over the last decade and how you have ended been here in a Tesla. Am normally very careful with money, but cars is my down fall, I cannot help but waste £££ on them. I...

New UK exclusive alloy colour - Royal Bronze

Introducting a new very special wheel colour just for UK cars. Royal bronze, it changes its appearance depending on viewing angle, and its exclusive, can only be acquired by cars driven on UK roads. On a white car it doesn't look half bad, the big question though is do I need to declare it as...

    Scan myTesla UK

Had some free time today for the first weekend in ages, so been a true nerd been playing with ScanMyTesla tool/app. Interesting data, shows the useable kWh on our 2017 75D X is currently 64kWh, no where near the 72kWh you see published on the web. In real life I cannot ever remember seeing more...

RHD Model S/X air filter replacement DIY.

Hopefully some people will find this helpful. Our X is now done over 30K and 2 years, so I thought it was time to replace the cabin air filter - (Note this is different from the HEAP filter which you can also do your self quite easily). Various YouTube DIYs on how to do it, but one suggested...

How not to wash a Tesla :)

All clay bar fans, detaling world forum members, 3 bucket method followers look away!!! Car got to a point of been so dirty there was literally mud falling off the FWDs when I opened them. There was nothing for it but to clean the car. A picture says 1000 words, so here it is, no pre rinse...

    Model 3 range in rain.

I wondered if any UK Model 3 owners could give me some idea of consumption/range in rain/cold at 70mph M way speeds?.....ie like the kind of weather we had last night. One of reasons am reluctant to go fully EVs is because in bad weather conditions consumption on our X goes nuts. We did 160...

    Powerwall and Octopus Go experience?

Finally got a date for our PowerWall install, 4th of November. Still a while away but cannot wait. We are currently on E7 with Bulb, and have solar PV, but clearly in November sun will be limited. I've seen lots of people have said the PowerWall software does its own thing with AI and not to...

Anyone swapping over to the Taycan??

The pricing is currently a bit nuts, £125k with a few options for the Turbo version. But interestingly the Panamera Turbo starts at £117k but the base 4 starts at £72k. Potential only £20k difference between the cheapest Taycan and a P Model 3. Yes I know the Model has the 0-60 party trick...

    Any UK inventory orders yet?

Saw my first white on white Model 3 yesterday, despite our best efforts to resist I think we are going to end up with a 50% of Elons 'S 3 X Y' vision on our driveway sooner rather than later.... I'll probably wait a few more weeks till end of Sep approaches. Given the flurry of UK delivers just...

Have Tesla made these cars too good?

We've all seen the stuff on dropping S/X demand etc, and today whilst replying to a different post I do wonder if part of the demand issue is the fact many of us existing owners simply aren't trading up. There is only a finite market for high ticket items like the S/X, and most traditional...

Is there a better family car?

2 years and 30K in am still loving the utility of our X, weekend spent clearing out a load of empty boxes and un needed kids bed. Garage now 1/3 full of junk that needs to go to the tip - plus bed that needs transporting. No issues with the X, didn't even have to remove Isofix child seat...

Model X consumption on 22inch versus 20inch, not all that bad.

I've been running around in on 20inch shoed Xs for the last 30k or so. I have a set of referral 22inchers waiting to go on the car since last summer, but all the stories of HUGE consumption put me off fitting the wheels... However today just as we were about to set off on a 160 mile trip the...

Model X base audio upgrade - Focal ES165KX2

I have a 2017 75DX with base audio. I have to say for a base system the sound produced by the car was never 'bad' but never really good enough for me to enjoy listening, certainly nothing close to the HiFi setup at home. I spend a lot of time in my car with my toddler, so nursery rhymes take up...
