    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Acceleration is slower, 6.8s 0-100 and no downshifting so still leave most cars for dust. Main impact on energy in urban driving is if you are accelerating hard a lot, yes. If you are cruising and accelerating slowly and smoothly, you'll use about same amount of energy covering the same distance...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

In WA they've put the blame on defects squarely on Autonexus and the fact that the cars need to go on multiple hops. They also have a small service centre work force (6 weeks between delivery and appointment) and outsource the body repairs. It'll probably be three months now between me receiving...

How dat? Then its definitely not the update that will cripple you but them realising somehow they have switched you on when they shouldn't have.

Specific features are though, red light detection isn't going to appear magically because they "enable FSD", the software version needs to be downloaded first and then enabling FSD unlocks it. This is why Smart Summon was only available with 2019.36 + FSD

I got that for one drive at the weekend, went away for next one

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

More, exactly when its used and when its not as appears to be how boundaries are being successfully set for Smart Summon and some speed limits I've altered in OSM for freeway etc seem to have taken effect though this could be coincidental of course. The school zones thing has me stumped though.
  8. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Essentially as was my understanding given what I've been told. However, my daughter's school zone appeared today on the car's navigation but I can't find a conditional speed limit for that school zone on OSM. My son's school zone which I added to OSM this week still does not appear on the screen.
  9. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Only the source for speed values is "live" from OpenStreetMap while the underlying road map data is Google Maps so its probably a mismatch between the two.
  10. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Best I can tell speed limits are cached from OpenStreetMap so they will only change if the road has been modified so that it aligns better with the OpenStreetMap data and, of course, the OpenStreetMap data is correct

And you were absolutely right, the first generation of just about every Apple product (iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch) has been marketing enabled gimmicky garbage that only became useful in the subsequent iterations.

For which the owner pays for the privilege, I'm training the hell out of the non FSD-only stuff
  13. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Similar, I kick the kids out then drive into the garage so would be nice to leave car at same time and have it drive in but not a must. Similar how Homelink is a nice to have. But this is why we have options and some choose to assert them and others, like myself, opt to save the money and don't.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

A Dukes of Hazzard horn, think Musk wants people to be able to customize along these lines but yeah just use the horn if you see kids deciding to play in traffic
  15. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I've approached plenty of pedestrian crossings, people stepping into the street at corners, etc. I haven't seen anybody launch themselves into the street yet. I'm not against noise makers (even though ironically they will likely make the Tesla noisier than a contemporary ICE) but I don't think...

You can geofence, you tag the location its at and disable Sentry for that location
  17. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yup, I've started doing this because none seem to be mapped in WA. Also lots of freeway road works. My edit already seem to stop nav taking me via certain sections of the freeway.

If he's still on 36.1 he's lucky and has 61m summon that works anywhere and the onus is on the cops to bust you if you're doing it illegally 36.2.2 nanny states it to 12.5m and private property
  19. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

"The whole week"? 36.2.2 just dropped yesterday. Presumably you're on 36.1 then. In which case I'd keep it that way if I were you.
  20. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yup, 36.1 was 61m (200 feet) and worked in public car parks

Drove 25 minutes from top floor of four storey parking to shopping centre. Only time I touched accelerator after exiting parking structure was at last couple of corners as was only a few metres between each and didn't want car to speed off straight and to manouever between lanes if necessary...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

If you have 36.2.2 let us know if your car can actually Smart Summon anywhere or you get told you can't use it because public property.

Heavy traffic, leave in autopilot, done
  27. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yeah, just auto-holds rather than continuing to drive at 8kph while without creep mode before you just had to brake to a full stop and it holds while with creep mode you had to depress the brake fully to hold
  28. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

You turned off creep mode and switched to hold mode?
  29. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yeah, turned off creep mode yesterday to help transition to "hold" single pedal driving. Scheduled departures will be a bonus if I install HPWC. I don't get the fascination with the traffic cone thing. I can see them just as easily or better looking at the road and it doesn't impact the way the...

Looks like 36.2.2 is available to everyone in Australia. I went to my car and it was waiting to download onscreen, no prompting. Hot spotted to phone for 5 minutes to download then left it to install.
  31. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

No, one new car at least in NSW appears to have received 36.2.1 today (P3, I'm guessing FSD given they got v10 within 2 days of connection to Teslafi)
  32. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Indeed which is why I have a macro setup that sets the aircon temp based on external and internal temperature - I heat to 20.5 and cool to 22.5 or 23.5 degrees
  33. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

No, it's only an issue if you're an Uber driver etc people flaunt it anyway
  34. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yeah, my aircon is set to 23.5 max (tested in 40c on Saturday, worked a treat) and 20.5 min (heating on a cold evening). All set up in Tasker so does it automagically when phone connects over Bluetooth.
  35. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Assuming aircon uses the same amount of power consistently when the car is in motion and not sealed up in a garage (airflow) May be more tolerable just to drive slower and get extra that way if you really need it. My house to Albany (422km), set max speed at 90 kph, 5:01 duration, 83%...

yup should have said "instant torque" as the race car designer kept shouting when I took him for a spin the other weekend
  37. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

All about that torque. Plenty of go even in chill mode.

Have used the boot once in the three weeks I've owned the car to carry a carton of coke when the frunk was full from my shopping bags. It wasn't raining. First road trip tomorrow so first time boot will get used in anger with 60/40 split so pop up tent bag can fit in. Forecast is 40c and no rain.
  39. K

A little gets into my seals area when opening the frunk but not seen any get into the main compartment.

~26c out today, climate control set for 23.5 w/ automatic fan. When I jumped in the car, parked in direct sun (cabin overheat no A/C set), at lunchtime the thermometer on the screen read 31c so there was a blast from the blower for a bit to cool the car down (an average span speed of about 4.5...

I have an iPad but Stats is pretty expensive and doesn't seem to really offer more than TeslaFi other than some controls that you can use in free apps (Tezlab is an option for Android) or program yourself using Tasker as I have done. I was running Teslaspy, similar price to TeslaFi but seems to...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Only two weeks or so in and its not gotten that hot here yet but I've noted that cooling seems to be very efficient, heating not so much. Looking forward to first proper road trip this weekend to get a realistic look at range. In theory I've been operating 440km with a full charge in a P- but a...

My condolences, had a close call reversing out this morning and almost swung into another car (still not 100% there on muscle memory with stalk gear shift), slammed the anchors just in time.

Erm, isn't this literally why Americans created the expressions "fudge", "shoot", "gosh", "heck", "jeepers", and "darn"? And this, my friends, is why Trump is president.

Jason was mistaken, he was pulling info from a Twitter thread second-hand and the person who took it from has confirmed it was 2019.36 early access. 2019.32.12.4 - bug fix for an intermittent error with e-call, GPS and the cameras
  49. K

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Probably because announcement that these would be in a release coming in a few weeks coincided with the release of 32.12.4 (minor release) And everyone is super keen to get their hands (or feet) on these.

The release notes with Scheduled Departure are for 36.x (early access)
