Interesting! The 20" rims weight around 33 lbs according to Tesla and total weight I measured including tires is 53 lbs, so the tires do weight quite a bit less than your 19". Speaking of 19", I got a set of Chinese Tesla performance wheels and they weigh about 48.5 total so I save about 4.5 lbs...

Folks are saying 2019.12 adds a lot more power. Wondering if it will make 0-60 drop below 3 secs and 1/4 mile in <11 secs.

Has anybody looked at 0-60 with track mode? Is it any faster than without, after the new update?

Thanks! From what I've read the wheel alone is 33 lbs so 30 lbs is the tire. That makes me wonder how much is saved with a smaller 18" wheel weighing 20ish lbs where the sidewalk would have to be higher and weigh more. Seems like the tire+wheel combo would also weigh at least 45 lbs?

Does anybody have this number handy or could measure it?

Do you know how much lighter the regular rotors are (inside the 18" Aeros used on all other variants of the 3)? I've been wondering how much faster the P3D- would be than the P3D+ as a result of lighter rotors and wheels.

Wait, what? The rotors are 7-8 lbs heavier than low weight rotors? That's a lot! How about compared to the 18" rotors of the aero wheels, which in turn are 8 lbs lighter per corner than the 20" wheels. This really makes me wonder how much quicker the 0-60 time of the P3D- would be with stickier...

Given the much lower wheel and brake rotor weight of the standard 18" aero set on the P3D- compared to the 20" of the PUP, I wonder if anyone has tested the 0-60 with Pilot 4S or other sticky rubber on these?

You mean $5k for the 20" wheels, brakes, and spoiler? Check out the 18" wheels without aero covers, I actually think they look better (less toyish, size and color wise).

I'm curious about that actually: won't it reduce resale value in that potential buyers will know it was on Turo?

A related question is how long one has to own the car before one can legally claim the tax credit (say one had to sell it due to a move to a different content or what not). My understanding is one has to own it at least a year, but I have not seen solid data to back this up.

Pretty sure you both mean the same thing: the expiring tax credits are great for people buying this year and selling next year, especially after June when the credits expire completely. Makes sense?

I guess one way to justify the hacking would be accepting voided warranty. Basically you pay $11k extra to have your PM3 drivetrain insured by Tesla. If you are willing to pay for repairs yourself, get the regular AWD and hack it. Which is what I think I will do if I order one.

Good points. I want Tesla to succeed. I just don't understand why they could not have built two different engines to create a more real differentiation. Chances are it would have driven up sales for the performance model too. But I'm probably wrong which is why they did it the way they did it.
