    Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

Three questions for y'all: 1. Has anybody see what these wheels look like? 2. How many referrals did you need to make to get the award wheels? 3. Can I still get them by making referrals?
  2. Q

    94 Miles on Gravity!

Wait, so how many miles did you have left in the battery when you returned back down? How many miles did you loose in total, starting with 322?
  3. Q

Weight of one PUP 20" wheel+tire?

Interesting! The 20" rims weight around 33 lbs according to Tesla and total weight I measured including tires is 53 lbs, so the tires do weight quite a bit less than your 19". Speaking of 19", I got a set of Chinese Tesla performance wheels and they weigh about 48.5 total so I save about 4.5 lbs...
  4. Q

    5% increase in power

Folks are saying 2019.12 adds a lot more power. Wondering if it will make 0-60 drop below 3 secs and 1/4 mile in <11 secs.
  5. Q

Weight of one PUP 20" wheel+tire?

    Lightweight battery?
  6. Q

    5% increase in power

Has anybody looked at 0-60 with track mode? Is it any faster than without, after the new update?
  7. Q

Weight of one PUP 20" wheel+tire?

Thanks! From what I've read the wheel alone is 33 lbs so 30 lbs is the tire. That makes me wonder how much is saved with a smaller 18" wheel weighing 20ish lbs where the sidewalk would have to be higher and weigh more. Seems like the tire+wheel combo would also weigh at least 45 lbs?
  8. Q

Weight of one PUP 20" wheel+tire?

Does anybody have this number handy or could measure it?
  9. Q

Has anyone posted updated 1/4 mile times since 5% update?

That's interesting that the AWD is now almost as fast as the Performance...
  10. Q

    5% increase in power

Do you know how much lighter the regular rotors are (inside the 18" Aeros used on all other variants of the 3)? I've been wondering how much faster the P3D- would be than the P3D+ as a result of lighter rotors and wheels.
  11. Q

    5% increase in power

May I ask what you weigh? I thought the car could do 3.2 secs 0-60.
  12. Q

The final word on putting 18" Aeros on the P3D+?

Is it possible to do with spacers, or not? If yes, which spacers do I need to purchase?
  13. Q

Any practical advantages of PUP red brembo brakes over standard brakes?

Wait, what? The rotors are 7-8 lbs heavier than low weight rotors? That's a lot! How about compared to the 18" rotors of the aero wheels, which in turn are 8 lbs lighter per corner than the 20" wheels. This really makes me wonder how much quicker the 0-60 time of the P3D- would be with stickier...
  14. Q

P3D- stickier tire tests: 3.0 secs?

Given the much lower wheel and brake rotor weight of the standard 18" aero set on the P3D- compared to the 20" of the PUP, I wonder if anyone has tested the 0-60 with Pilot 4S or other sticky rubber on these?
  15. Q

Vendor Tesla Model 3 Flow Forged Wheels - Model TSS Available in 18", 19" & 20"

Yeah it's too bad they're not showing photos of the space gray. I'd like to see that on red. Ideally 19".
  16. Q

Any practical advantages of PUP red brembo brakes over standard brakes?

I'm wondering, are there any advantages in real life driving? Do they offer any shorter stopping distance, maybe in conjunction with the stickier tires of the performance model 3?
  17. Q

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Knightshade do you own a P3D-? I hope you do, cause otherwise the amount of time you put into telling owners how they should feel about their purchase is..odd... Like if Model S owners complain about something I never spend any time berating them whether they are justified or not. After all it's...
  18. Q

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Knightshade, you're ignoring several things, e.g.: 1. The hardware components of the PUP almost certainly cost more than $5,000 since the wheels alone cost $4,000 and the brakes and shocks etc will add substantially to that. It is obvious that if Tesla is now saving production costs, they are...

My Model 3 Got Wrecked Today :(

Doesn't Tesla have the footage from the rear view camera?
  21. Q

    Tesla depreciation

Just to clarify: are you saying that depending on interpretation there is also a disadvantage to buying during a tax credit and trying to sell when the credit expired? Could you explain this more?
  22. Q

    Performance or not!

You mean $5k for the 20" wheels, brakes, and spoiler? Check out the 18" wheels without aero covers, I actually think they look better (less toyish, size and color wise).
  23. Q

    Performance or not!

I'm curious about that actually: won't it reduce resale value in that potential buyers will know it was on Turo?
  24. Q

    Tesla depreciation

A related question is how long one has to own the car before one can legally claim the tax credit (say one had to sell it due to a move to a different content or what not). My understanding is one has to own it at least a year, but I have not seen solid data to back this up.
  25. Q

    Tesla depreciation

But still $7,500 better than it will be between next year and the year after...
  26. Q

    Tesla depreciation

Pretty sure you both mean the same thing: the expiring tax credits are great for people buying this year and selling next year, especially after June when the credits expire completely. Makes sense?
  27. Q

    Performance or not!

No worries, and thanks for clarifying. Could you copy&paste what he wrote? I just went through the comment section and honestly can't find reference to 500A or 800A inverters or anything like that. Thanks
  28. Q

    Tesla depreciation

What do you mean? Can you paraphrase? Thanks!
  29. Q

    Tesla depreciation

Regarding your point "-Access to AP3 in place upgrade. Autopilot generation is a key demarcation point with how people shop for Tesla's.", this is only true if I buy the Full Self Driving now? Or am I misunderstanding your post?
  30. Q

    Tesla depreciation

Awesome post, thank you! Just a quick follow-up, did you factor in that FUSC is only for the first owner, i.e, I won't be able to transfer it if I sell the car?
  31. Q

Changing Delivery Data and Vehicle after VIN assignment

I'm getting cold feet about my Performance Model 3. I know I want AWD but am just not sure about spending the extra $10k for the fun of performance and unlimited supercharging. I already have a VIN assigned and delivery offered for this weekend. I have been offered 3.6% APR from Tesla financing...
  32. Q

    Tesla depreciation

Cool, so you don't think Tesla will reduce the prices next year to make up for the lack of tax credit?
  33. Q

    Let's talk financing rates

What sort of credit score is required for those rates?
  34. Q

    Tesla depreciation

I'm trying to do a budget for buying a Performance Model 3 and am curious about people's thoughts on this, since I don't have good data on how Teslas fare in terms of resale value. 1. Is it reasonable to assume that the car will loose ~20% of its value during the first year of ownership, and...
  35. Q

    Performance or not!

I'm actually not disputing him in the slightest. I'm just correcting your statement that he "found" that the inverters have different amperages. He simply suggested that that would be one of several ways to give the P-AWD more power. Please correct me if you think I'm wrong - I'd gladly update...
  36. Q

    Performance or not!

Sorry, but Ingineerix was just speculating and did not claim he had data to prove it. The video you're referencing suggests something different: that the front and rear inverters of the performance model might be the same (he suggests that around the 25 sec mark), as well as the same as the RWD...
  37. Q

    Performance or not!

Does that software work? If yes, do you agree that the same thing could happen for the regular dual motor Model 3, devaluing the Performance version?
  38. Q

    Performance or not!

Because there is no data to support the idea that there are tangible hardware differences between AWD and Performance. "Lot sorting" is the only difference Elon/Tesla mentioned, but it is hard to imagine that output variations of motors in the lot are greater than a percent, because that would...
  39. Q

    Turo

I'm curious what people's recent experiences here are about renting their cars out on Turo (haven't seen any recent threads on this). Is it a reasonable source of income or is the risk to the vehicle's condition too great? Does one have ways of controlling whether those who ride it are...
  40. Q

Resale Value of Performance Model 3

I'm doing a budget calculation and am curious about people's thoughts on this, since I don't have good data on how Teslas fare in terms of resale value. 1. Is it reasonable to assume that the car will loose ~20% of its value during the first year of ownership, and perhaps 15% in each the 2nd...
  41. Q

    Performance or not!

Just to clarify, you preferred the performance of the Model 3, correct?
  42. Q

    Performance or not!

Thanks for the thought. May I ask, are you suggesting that the P3D will sell for the same as a 3D at the 3 year mark? I assumed I should still be able to get $4k or so more for it (assuming a total depreciation of the cars value of 60%). Does my rationale make sense here?
  43. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

This video suggests that the AWD does sub-4.5 (4.3?) seconds 0-60 mph: Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor joins Performance variant in beating company 0-60 estimates This video suggests 4.13 seconds:
  44. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

This video suggests that the inverters are indeed the same between RWD and front and rear engine of the P-AWD. It also mentions "stabilizers" being different between RWD and P-AWD. I'm not sure what that means.
  45. Q

    Performance or not!

Like some others, I'm on the fence about spending $10k extra for the performance Model 3 ("P3D"). I definitely want AWD, and would pay for the 1 sec faster acceleration if there was a tangible hardware difference, but it does at this point seem like it's purely a software unlock and there's no...
  46. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

All, I just want to remind you that according to the EPA, the rear motor or the RWD version has been rated for the same 211kW output as the supposedly "binned" rear motor of the performance version. Since that RWD motor has been in production and put into cars for over a year now (and what did...
  47. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

I wonder if you do realize that your logic implies that there would be dramatic power output variations between performance models as well as between regular AWD models of the car, which would be extremely problematic from a quality control standpoint. I think your argument is utter BS. Those...
  48. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

I guess one way to justify the hacking would be accepting voided warranty. Basically you pay $11k extra to have your PM3 drivetrain insured by Tesla. If you are willing to pay for repairs yourself, get the regular AWD and hack it. Which is what I think I will do if I order one.
  49. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

Good points. I want Tesla to succeed. I just don't understand why they could not have built two different engines to create a more real differentiation. Chances are it would have driven up sales for the performance model too. But I'm probably wrong which is why they did it the way they did it.
  50. Q

Does anyone know the hardware differences between the P3D and 3D?

That upgrade is the line in the firmware code base: reduce_power = False # set to True for regular AWD model
