What's the holdup with Glovis Sonic? It's still just laying there at anchor while the pier is empty... :-(

Can I refer you to my post of several days ago which explains when things will happen.

The GLOVIS SONIC has, as predicted, taken up an anchorage in the San Francisco Bay.
The STENA SUNRISE will now vacate Pier 80 early on Monday morning.
GLOVIS SONIC will move alongside the pier and commence loading on Tuesday morning.
The GLOVIS SUN remains anchored in the Bay.

In less than 2 hours the GLOVIS SONIC will be alongside Pier 80.
Once again though, don't get too excited because around this time tomorrow it's due to leave.
I don't know where to but I strongly suspect it isn't going to be EU.

Sorry - in the gallery. Images 30+ (esp. 34, 42, 51, 53, 71). I see now that many of these images are from 2019 which might be the answer to the question, but #51, 53 for example show European style license plate holder with a few Model X in the bunch.

Model S/X to China, Taiwan and possibly S Korea are shipped from Pier 80.

I ordered a Model 3 about two weeks ago and have been following this thread and Marine Traffic intensely the last few days. Is it possible to make any qualified guesses about when to expect it to ship from SF? How often does Tesla send ships to EU?

OK so we are expecting the 1st ship of the quarter to depart for Europe within the next week. It will go to Zeebrugge and take 3 weeks from leaving San Francisco. Your car will probably be unloaded in Zeebrugge and then cross loaded on to another ship to Drammen. Having said that, last quarter Tesla moved the Norwegian cars by road to Drammen from Zeebrugge. So allow another week for that,
Your next step is to look for the hidden VIN on your Tesla account. There are many threads on this forum on how to do that. You should start looking when you see from this thread that a ship is heading to Zeebrugge. Hopefully the wait will be a bit more entertaining by following this thread....

I'm in the same boat as you (see what I did there?), ordered 2 weeks ago except for a Model X. Still waiting for a VIN to appear (even got the hidden VIN checker installed too).

Massive thanks to @Mr Miserable for all his work. At least this makes the wait more entertaining!

Ah. Model X
Sadly your car will not be departing from Pier 80.
Model S/X travel a completely different route to Europe partly assembled in a container.
I'll dig out an old post that describes the route and repost it here....

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.
Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).
They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.
The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland). They are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam. There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.
As can be seen, all this takes time.
Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

Wow thanks for that. Guess its now a waiting game for the VIN, right?

That is usually the first sign that something is happening.
Tesla are notoriously uncommunicative during this period and this is especially true for Model X customers who place an order for a 100K car and hear nothing for months on end. For a company that has software at its heart it is such a simple fix but ...

I think you're right about cars will be moved to Norway by road. Thanks a lot, you make the waiting game a bit easier to cope with :)

I am leasing through a third party, I have an empty tesla account. In people's experience, how long does it take for Tesla to assign a car? Is it when they arrive in the country (e.g. UK)?
I’m in the same boat. I have heard people say that as it’s Lease you may not find a car listed in your account at all as it its owned by the lease company and not you. But not sure if thats always the case.

The leasing company said the car will be added to my account when the time comes and I will be able to track it once they assign the car to me, not sure if that is the case for you too.
