As GLOVIS CLIPPER departs the Pedro Miguel locks for Gatun Lake she is now 85ft higher than she was this morning.

After a long day the GLOVIS CLIPPER is now clear of Gatun locks and is entering the Caribbean.
I am waiting for her to update her AIS with her ETA for Zeebrugge.
Additionally we don't know which route she will use to enter the Atlantic however due to weather I suspect she may decide to route via the Windward Passage.
We shall see....

UPDATE: AIS ETA Zeebrugge 20:00 17 Sep
This is a day later than shown on the Zeebrugge Port Schedule and is easily achieveable by the ship.
A relatively slow transatlantic passage lies ahead.

Wooop!

Does this mean that Tesla will assign me my VIN? (Delivery 21st September!).

Just call Tesla and they will give it to you, I'm on the same boat and have mine. Although it's not appearing on the site or in the source code.

I believe they can give you the vin as soon as the car is assigned..

Saying that, having the VIN hasn't helped, Churchill can't setup your insurance till you have the reg. (who give an extra 5% discount if you call and say you have auto pilot, its down as a modification, learnt that from this site and it worked!)

The San Francisco Port Schedule has been updated and it shows a visit by GRAND CHOICE is due on 19 Sep.
This is highly irregular as the normal Tesla routine is to try and get paid for all the cars produced in any given quarter and there is no way a ship load of cars loading on the 19 Sep will be delivered to their customers by 30 Sep, unless they are heading to Hawaii.
I very much doubt it will come to Europe and suspect it will probably head to Shanghai.

Hi Mr M. Thank you for your contribution and help on the shipping threads and more. Please could I have your Octopus Agile referral code as I am hoping to move to them also?

GLOVIS SIGMA Her position at midday today is shown on the chart below.
She will be keeping an eye on Tropical Depression Omar as she tracks parallel with its forecasted track.
Her ETA in Zeebrugge is late evening of 12 Sep.

GLOVIS CLIPPER She spent yesterday negotiating the Panama Canal and is now in the Caribbean heading for the Mona Passage. This was a surprise as there is some nasty weather on the way but she is no rush now and will pass behind it. She is now expecting to arrive in Zeebrugge on 17 Sep which is easily achievable.

PLATINUM RAY departed Newark yesterday evening and her midday position is shown on the chart below.
She will also be keeping an eye on the track of Tropical Depression Omar as it moves northwards.
Her ETA for Zeebrugge is 0300 on 12 Sep and so we can hope she will pitch up in Southampton around 14th.
Anyway we can look forward to a fast transatlantic crossing.

GRAND CHOICE is scheduled to load at Pier 80 on 19 Sep.
This is a surprise visitor in the 'closed season' but I very much doubt she will be coming to Europe.

Zeebrugge is going to get swamped with new Teslas with PLATINUM RAY arriving on 12 Sep and followed later that same day by the GLOVIS SIGMA and the GLOVIS CLIPPER arriving just 5 days after that.
I just hope Zeebrugge are prepared and ready for this deluge....

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland).

The containers are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam (Note: Although the ships have a scheduled stop in Antwerp your containers are unloaded in Rotterdam).

There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

Ships for possible Model S and Model X shipments are:

MAERSK MONTANA arrived Rotterdam 3 Aug
MAERSK IOWA arrived Rotterdam 10 Aug
MAERSKA IDAHO arrived Rotterdam 17 Aug
MAERSK NIJMEGAN arrived Rotterdam 22 Aug
MAERSK OHIO arrived Rotterdam 24 Aug

I'm thinking aloud here but with PLATINUM RAY arriving 12 Sep there is time to get another shipment to Europe before the end of the quarter. If another shipment arrived, say, a week later 19 Sep that would still be OK.
I might just continue to keep an eye on Newark.....
