Wiki 2021+ Model S Refresh - Missing/Incomplete Software Features

just got the 2021 MS LR... I am super disappointed with the audio so far. I understand there is a software update that will allow separate control of the subwoofer but the update has not yet been sent to me. Any ideas for how to get the software update pushed through quickly? Setting a service appointment will probably do the trick but my local SC is booked up until October already.

You can request a service appointment and select "software" and they can send the update remotely, without actually having to send a mobile tech or requiring you to drive in to the service center.

That’s not really true in my experience. I could never be pushed anything newer than what was available to my car, which was, as stated, nothing newer. Patience is required - it can take many weeks to get an update.

Typically, we just wait for an update but in the past we've had no problem requesting and receiving an update via the app when we were months behind receiving an update or experiencing a bug that we knew had been fixed. Things may have changed though.

With that said, we just waited two weeks for the 2021.32.5 update as we weren't in any rush to get it installed.

I am thinking at this point, the 'complete' version of the software (v11) that was supposed to ship with the refresh (and presumably last December before that) will now ship *this* December and may have most of the remaining advertised features (some form of ANC, autopark, a cohesive UI, etc.).

Wishful thinking?

On the note about cohesive UI, it drives me mad that the fasten seatbelt indicator is persistent and presents exactly on top of the Homelink dialog (which by the way has a completely useless, non functional 'cancel' button). And if that was not enough, these dialogs sit on top of the side camera views when in reverse, pretty much obfuscating them. Needless to say, taking my car out of my narrow garage is an exercise in patience every time.

I agree with you the audio system does suck. In fact mine is in the shop now getting a major overhaul. Stock audio systems all have the same problem, they create the system with the highest statistical output and number of speakers for the lowest possible cost. For some reason buyers want more speakers and the highest wattage possible. Some even put cheap DSP’s in theirs. I want to hear music the way it was intended to be heard and yes you can do that in a car, particularly a quiet Tesla. Also having an escort max ci system installed. I can‘t wait to get my car back and hear the new system.

Weird. Did you wait for the 2021.32.5 audio system update before doing this?

How? I saw no controls for the rear AC from the front display.

Button 4 will get you rear controls (per the manual).
4. Touch to turn the rear fan on and off and to adjust the rear seat heaters. Passengers in the rear cabin can use the rear touchscreen to turn the rear fan on and off, adjust the seat heaters, and control the air flow from the rear vents.

Yes actually I did. Their is no depth or separation. You are asking about software upgrades which can only control the processing. Can probably even control the cross over settings for all I know. But what it can’t do is provide a hi res signal to crisp zero floor amplification to high performing 3 way speakers and a real subwoofer driven by a powerful and efficient amplifier. There is a huge tonal difference when you do this. Tesla upgrades are great for things like adding auto park but expecting amazing music from a software upgrade is going to leave you hoping for more. There is so much more to it in a Tesla. As quiet as the car is, it still needs to be sound deadened. That alone greatly improves the sound quality in a car.

What is your source for 96KHz FLAC files?

Everything I have is CD rips at 16bit/44.1KHz.
Hi, I have some 96/24 that I have created from SACDs, but most of my 96/24 files came from HDTracks and the occasional artist website. I have a home system that is on the higher end, but I've found that how the recording is implemented is often more important than the encoding/sample rates. If it is done correctly, 44/16 sounds pretty good. I have some 96/24 that sounds not so good too :). If it is a good implementation, then 96/24 is great.
