2022.8.10.1 on MCU1

Tried to get Tesla support to upload 2022.8.10.1 to my TMX 2017 MCU1 AP 2.4 with upgraded eMMc. They told me the new version was not ready for cars with the upgraded eMMc,

I have several irritating problems with 2021.24.28. Among them the problem the phone app has to connect to the car some times and that the IC wants to reboot at times when I am going for a drive. Had a month long discussion with support this winter and they confirmed that this could only be solved with software update 2022.8. So I am waiting....

This is the message I got from Tesla support back in april.

I have found that indeed some model S and X owners are experiencing intermittent issues with the modem being slow to wake after updating the software to 2021.24. It may take 5-10 minutes for the modem to wake and therefore be able to connect to the Mobile App.
This issue has been addressed from engineering and will be resolved via future update (should be 2022.8, unfortunately it is not available yet for deployment for your vehicle so I could not send it). I suggest to wait for the FW update to be available for your vehicle and install it once you receive it. If issue persists after the vehicle has been updated please feel free to contact us again.

Kind regards, cordiali saluti

I got the update ready to download on my 85d hw1 mcu1 with updated emmc. Still waiting for more feedback before I update. Anyone can give feedback there is not much as I read through all the posts.personally the car behaviour is stable and fine. Worried the update will make it worst or slower. I would love waypoints but what else can we expect to get? They make me laugh with their cold weather improvements. winter is the same for all the ev out there and I even find my old S more predictable than my sister’s 3 or my parent’s Y.

Here's the best part :) Thank you Tesla :p

Do you now have waypoints on the map in the car?
Can you schedule charge or departure from the phone app?

These are the two features I see they could give us without impacting performance....
Don't know yet on the waypoints, Like @Lucky J after the update was done it immediately started downloading a new map update so here is hoping :)

Yes, can now schedule departure from the phone.
And charge stats is new too

I just want to know about waypoints and if they returned the ability to slide the SoC to 100% (or any cap) and see the estimated range at that SoC. This was a stupid feature to remove as it created a situation where you MUST actually charge to 100% to find out the SoC at 100%. It would also be nice to be able to adjust the charge rate (when on A/C) from the app as well. I've got it ready for install on one of my cars so I suppose I should just install it and explore for myself. It's always such a crap shop shoot with these firmware updates. It would also be nice if they fixed the Bluetooth bug that seems to come and go with every other firmware update. It's been back with this most recent (and longest running) one, sadly.

There's others items I'm looking for but those are the ones right off the top of my head.

I was actually kind of relieved we didn't see anything for quite some time. I like the idea that we got v11 for the MCU1 but I'm fearful that features I use regularly will be removed. Sounds like they're slowly adding them back over time due to complaints but who knows when it will be the last firmware update for our cars and something missing just remans missing for the rest of times.

Update: I went ahead and processed the update (take a shot every time I say "update") and so far I'm happy. The UI is more modern looking but I love the ability to customize the dock. I know when v11 first came out early adopters were infuriated with the limited real estate of the dock and what items were displayed. Now that it's customizable, I'm able to add the apps that I want including the seat heater & steering wheel heater controls. I wish you could add one or two more but I would imagine things would begin to get crowded and/or the icons would have to get too small to be easy to find/press quickly while driving. I really like this update so far even with an admittedly short time of interaction.

It's updating the maps now so hopefully we'll see waypoints with new map data? Guessing not since I don't think that functionality is part of the map data which I believe to be exactly that. For those that said the update didn't have it, did you enter an address & then look for a new option while navigating? I think I read some where that that's how that feature is accessed.

Thanks @dark cloud for the feedback. The scheduling in the phone is a good feature for me with the winters we have in Montreal. Otherwise I needed to go in the car to do it. Too bad for the waypoints though I do not think this would have been too hard to add but hey... Knowing this MCU does not get updates is reassuring in a way because you know what you have won't change. Most of the time before I used to be disappointed with new updates because we did not get most of the new features except for cold climate improvements! ;) We were even loosing some from time to time.

Anyone with the update can say if the UI is slower?
The Tegra is already stretched in our MCU1, going from v10 to v11 make it worst or not? I read some news less than a year back that John Carmack was suppose to help make the UI faster... Never heard from that but I was looking for this too and maybe this v11 includes his work.

Does anyone knows if the map engine is Google based on Google maps or some Tesla implementation?

Cheers!

Feel like a lone wolf reading all posts with newer AP/HW :p
I'm sitting here with MCU1 and I guess HW1 and AP0 😂 (TMS 2014) - luckily I have LTE and eMMC upgrade though.
Well we all do, as the majority of posts around here lately are regarding the Plaid, and refresh, which make even the Raven seem old! And most of the MCU1 people have abandoned us and gone to the MCU2, so even software posts on a 2014 are irrelevant.
But hey, thanks for your first post after joining 2.5 years ago!
