Advisor won't add referral code for P3D (originally order 3D)

My friend initially placed an order for a AWD 3.

A few weeks later, he changed his order to a P3D and gave them my referral code for free unlimited supercharging.

However, he said that his advisor will not add the referral code because it had to have been there when the order the placed.

But when he placed the initial order, it was for the non-P so there was no need for a referral.

My friend is still getting free unlimited supercharging so he doesn't really care that much but I kinda care...is this right?

Yes, this is standard practice. Tesla isn’t adding referral codes to pre-August 1 orders.

It's surprising to be denied this, my P3D order was from June and I've had many people all over the spectrum (call center rep, IDA, and 2 delivery center reps) all tell me that they are OK with me associating a referral code to my order and it should be no concern. I want to hook my referral up with a HPWC so I've been pretty aggressive asking about it.
