An MCU1 to MCU2 Upgrade might be REALLY worth it

So some time ago, in other threads, a point was made suggesting that the binnacle display would also need to be retrofitted. It was brought up as another kink against going forward with making the MCU upgrade.

I didn't see any clarification on that in the info provided by Tesla... so far.
[Personally I like new binnacle.... it just looks higher contrast & an improved display]

It appears they can do this upgrade without replacing the display. Zoom in the picture on the infotainment upgrade page - and you'll see that display has the yellow band around the outside.

Also appears the FSD computer upgrade can be done with MCU1, losing out on some of the FSD features (today - no access to the FSD visualizations).
 
I’ve had two S loaners that had bad case of the yellow ring. One had about 25k miles and the other only 16k miles on it. My X has 45k miles and no sign of the ring.

Based on my very limited exposure to newer cars, that would be one thing to prevent me from upgrading.
