I really want to install an aftermarket system for curb detection. I'm really having trouble pulling into parking spots without bumping front concrete "curbs" or ending up too far away from them.
I've tried backing in, but that isn't perfect either. Last night I was backing into a spot where a curb was on one side of me. I was so focused on the curb in my side view mirror that I forgot about my rear end and ended up lightly tapping the car parked behind me. He had parked too far forward (over the line) and I hadn't accounted for that and had taken my eye off the back up camera for a second. Fortunately no damage to either car, but unnerving!
I'd love to get a good sensor system installed front and back, but getting confused over the features of all the systems being discussed on the forum. I see good reports about MobilEye, but that looks like a system more for collision avoidance, etc. I also see people who like Blinder systems, Escort, etc. I'm not really interested in speed trap avoidance systems so much. My primary focus is on avoiding front/rear damage from bumping stuff while parking as well as avoiding curb rash. I'd also like to know if anyone has installed a front camera aftermarket. All feedback appreciated.

where are you getting it done?

Premier Motorsports in Fremont.

Quoted price range ($7-$8k) was a bit on the high side, but not ridiculous. When I had paint protection film put on my STi back in 2008, that only covered quarter hood, quarter fender, full front bumper, mirrors, and the recessed area behind the handles, and that cost me $2k. The MS is significantly larger than the STi, and I'm getting the entire car done.

While it's there, also getting 55% tint all around, and 75% on the front windshield.

Cool...do me a favor and have them take a look at the greyish rear diffuser and ask them if they think carbon fiber wrap would stick reliably.

Most places are saying they won't do it and provide warranty because they don't think it woul old up in that surface

Will do. Am also going to see about getting some vinyl wrap on some of the other chrome parts of the car to tone down the bling factor. Might get the handles done in black so it would blend right in. 'How do we get in the car? It has no handles!'

You do know its illegal to have any tint on the windshield in CA, right?

Here's the simplest of mods, similar to PorscheDealer, but 1) with vinyl wrap and 2) no wrap around the mirror.

Shout out to Lyle of Vinyl Wraps.

Just as big of a shout out to Jeremy of Invisguard (clear bra) and Rob of AutoProFilms (tints). Both are perfectionists and very reasonably priced. Jeremy went out of his way to even fix something that wasn't his fault!

The Tesla (non-)chrome strip in the first pic looks pretty awesome. I wasn't exactly sure what was modified in the other 2 pics

Wow. Beautiful. Looks like the kind of Model S that you'd see featured in a movie... Darth Vader or Batman would be quite at-home in that ride. Especially like the non-chrome darkened strip. Someone needs to get this exact vehicle in the next Bond movie, even if it's used as the villain's car.
