Totally understand your frustration...I am right there with you with 3 different delivery dates cancelled and ultimately put back on the Sept.-Nov. timeline. However, I think it is harsh to say that globally Tesla treats their Model 3 customers like trash. The people that got their cars over the last two weeks certainly don't feel that way. While I don't like the way I was handled through this push, I understand why it happened. They could not afford to let cars wait around in delivery centers when there were potential customers right there. The time frame was crucial. It is imperative that Tesla show the world that they car produce and deliver Model 3 at volume. Looking back in retrospect now that the push is over for me (with no car in hand) I can come to terms with how I was treated. Through the entire process, although the information I got was not what I wanted to hear, I was always treated with the upmost respect from all Tesla employees I talked and emailed with. Looking at the bigger picture, I was originally set for a September-November delivery. I was ok with that before the push. I am ok with it now. I have no reason to believe that I will not get my car well within that time frame. If this helps Tesla as a company in the long run then I can live with it.

Dan

Couldn’t agree with you more Dan, very well said! Of course I’m disappointed that I’m not getting my car this weekend, but as you said big picture they originally promised me Sept - Nov and there is little doubt I will get my car within that timeframe, probably by mid-October. What Tesla is going through right now is unprecedented. The ramp first in production and then in delivery is like nothing the automobile industry has seen, at least not in my lifetime (born 1972). Demand for a $50k to $60k car should not equal demand for many $20k to $30k cars, and yet it does. This is amazing to watch, and knowing I’ll get my car sometime soon, I’m enjoying the ride!

Got the following text about 15 minutes ago:

Thank you for confirming your availability. We are unable to schedule your delivery this weekend. We sincerely apologize for this, but will reach out as soon your car becomes available.
I guess that puts an end to the delivery text saga!
I received the same message for my Silver dual motor with 19's, after I sold my IS250F for the down payment and now I'm carless. I spent a while on the phone and forced their hand and now I have a rental car compliments of Elon Musk! Hopefully this will speed up my order

That’s great Winona, and actually a compliment to Tesla. Very few (if any) car dealers would rent you a car because your delivery got delayed and you already sold yours. They would likely tell you, “well, if you had traded in with us that wouldn’t happen.” Of course by not trading in you likely gained thousands in your pocket, I know I did. Sold my car 2 weeks ago for $3k more than my Carmax trade-in offer and am currently in a rental. Even after the sales tax benefit, that’s a $2500 gain. I made the calculated decision that, if it takes Tesla until the end of my delivery window to get me my car, this is break even for me so it’s a go. Assuming I get my car in October sometime, I’m at least $1k ahead.

Received an email very late last night, but thankfully was just a reminder to complete my profile online (already is) and confirmed home delivery still set for this afternoon.

Also got Tesla Financing to match CU offer, and updated paperwork showed up this morning.

Will be back on later, hopefully with an update of a successful home delivery in Chicago.

I am a recovering Tesla Account watcher. I used to watch my account incessantly. I try not to do that. However, after getting text a car was on it's way for tomorrow evening, I went into my account to see if a vin was there or MVPA was there. What I found was my trade-in information was gone and "amount owed" had what was trade-in allowance added to it.

Has anyone else noticed things in your account, especially financial stuff, changed out from under you? Particularly, with no external warning the change was made?

Yes - I have noticed the trade-in info seems to come and go - I wouldn't worry about - I am guessing with the load on their systems there is some interface failure on their backend that ends up showing up as if there was no trade-in by the time the page is displayed - but that is just a guess of course.

Successfully picked up my red AWD 3 at highland park last night. Clearly they are swamped (100+ deliveries yesterday, 150+ deliveries today) and you need to be prepared to wait (bring a book or iPad) as they try to clear the queue. Appointment times really don’t seem to mean a whole lot with the crush of people. They are definitely not staffed for the rush and at this point it is what it is.

As I’ve read above (and I agree with) the team at highland park was very cordial, respectful and were taking every concern seriously, but we’re clearly overwhelmed. They did this despite some people getting aggressive with them or being unprepared (pro tip if you’re trading in a car have your registration with you).

Is the car perfect? No. Did tesla commit to making it right? Absolutely, from 3 different people on the floor.

Good luck to everyone today and tomorrow and next week. Once I got on the road, put a few miles on the clock and autopilot calibrated life was good.

Received email on 9/6 and scheduled delivery for 9/29 (for MSM Dual Motor Aero)
Received text about home delivery about a week ago.
Contacted 9/25 about home delivery
Car driven and delivered to me on 9/29 with 17 miles on it. Delivered by a Tesla engineer who works on the solar products. Super friendly, did not feel rushed by them.
Things look great overall; will do a more detailed inspection.

Good luck everyone!

From a system architecture perspective I would doubt that but even if true, a fIlure of a subordinate query must fail the transaction. What I described lasted for 18 hours until some point subsequent to notifying my DA about it, where upon it was permanently fixed. Had the MVPA been drawn up during g that period they'd expect that full amount from me, delaying delivery an indeterminate amount t of time.

Did you get a heads up call / text prior to your delivery?

It's happening!!!!! If you read my previous post, you know that they matched my car with someone else and cancelled my delivery date. I walked into the SLC sales center less than an hour ago with check in hand. My new car is being detailed as I type this. The amazing people at the SLC showroom found me an unclaimed car in obsidian (mine was standard black) and they are helping me take delivery today. I'm stoked! And super appreciative! Again... This car was unclaimed. VIN 706xx

Nice. Are you getting the Obsidian black for free as a courtesy for the inconvenience?

I have been driving my Model S for 4 years but I still remember my delivery experience which was very nice, done by well prepared staff in service center, smooth and pleasant.

Today I was supposed to pickup my AWD Model 3, but did not work out. The whole communication leading up to the failed delivery was already total chaos. Let me lay out the whole story:

0. I was a day-1 reservation holder who lined up at the store on the day the reservations opened up (March 31 2016), two and a half years ago. Having a Model S was also supposed to give me priority in the waiting list, but we all know how that got ignored along the way through production hell and changed to "whoever wants to pickup what we have now" type of queue.

1. I got an email in April 2018, that I can configure my car if I want the LR-PUP-RWD version. I indicated that I want to wait for the AWD version.

2. Next email in June 2018 informed me, that now I can configure the AWD, so I did and got an estimated time-frame of 3-5 months, i.e. Sept-Nov range.

3. On Sept 11, I got an email from Delivery Specialist BV that my car will be available between Sept 26-30 to be picked up from the Oakville Tesla location and I should choose a date. I replied that I'd like to pick it up on the 29th (thats today), and asked if I could add EAP to the config which I did not have on originally. Since it is a software-only option I hoped it does not affect delivery.

4. On Sept 15, four days later, I got another email from a different delivery specialist PK, telling me that my car will be available for pickup on the first week of October in Mississauga. I replied (within hours) to both of them asking for clarification which date and location is the correct, considering the conflicting information I am getting from them, also asked again about the possibility to add EAP.

5. On Sept 24 late night (with no reply from either BV or PK to my emails in the meantime), I got a text message on my phone from a third delivery specialist DP, telling me that my car will be available on Sept 29 at Mississauga (so a new third combination of date and location) and I could choose from 2 time-slots either 11:30am or 5:30pm. I replied both in text and email that I would prefer 11:30 -- did not mention EAP to him, due to the short time-frame left I did not want to complicate it anymore.

6. On Sept 25 I got an email from DP that my delivery is confirmed for Sept 29 11:30am at the Mississauga location. I asked for the exact name I should put on the Bank draft as "payable to".

7. On Sept 27, I got a response from PK (this is the 2nd DP, not the third who confirmed the delivery) that I should make the cheque payable to "Tesla Motors Canada ULC". So I went into the Bank and got the bank draft for the balance as shown on my-Tesla web site for my order (which did not include the EAP).

8. On Sept 28 I got another email from PK, that he added EAP, and I need to go online to the my-Tesla site and confirm it. I saw the price has changed EAP was added, confirmed it and went back to the Bank to get another draft.

9. On Sept 29 (today) at 1am I got notification that my delivery was re-scheduled to 10:30am, so an hour earlier (with less than ten hour notice).

10. I have showed up at the delivery center at 10:30, checked in, got my information entered into their computer and was told to wait until called.

11. While waiting I checked my phone and saw I got another email from WP (a delivery manager) telling me that they are not able to prepare my vehicle for delivery today and need to re-schedule. I asked a delivery specialist running around the waiting room to confirm whether i should go home and wait for the re-schedule or stay and may get my car today. He never came back to me.

12. An hour later I talked to John Dixon from the Tesla Owner's Club (not a Tesla employee, an owner-enthusiast who was there to help voluntarily), who managed to find out for me that my car has not yet arrived to the delivery center, so there is no point for me to stick around.

So, delivery is a complete mess of miss-communication. I found out that they did deliver ~130 cars yesterday at this location and planning to deliver ~300 today, while having about 500 cars in the parking lot, so there is enough left for tomorrow too.

A couple of things. When you got your S it was a $100,000+ vehicle, correct? There simply isn't a very strong demand for $100,000+ vehicles so each delivery could be like a 4 yr old's birthday or Christmas. Ribbon around the car, Champagne? Once the price point for the next Tesla was moved to the affluent range rather than 1% range, my guess, orders were 4x what the S was. Further, they wanted to maximize federal tax credit so they had a pent up demand followed by an ill-prepared manufacturing process.
They were completely unprepared for delivering 50,000 cars in, effectively, 1 quarter.

I suspect they are through their bubble now or all-but. The Q3 ends tomorrow. The rush to book revenue ends tomorrow. My bet is sanity resumes and insanity ends on Monday. People will likely be notified when their car has been prepped and detailed. Likely with a one week window for pickup before put into inventory again.

Prediction: This last 3 months will repeat on steroids with the SR M3 at the median income automobile price point of $35,000.
