Backup camera suddenly shows black screen

The screen is black when in reverse or when I choose "Camera" from the pop-up action bar. Model Y less than 2 weeks old. Is this a common thing that has an easy fix? I tried Powering off and back on. Lens looks fine.

That sounds odd. Maybe try to wriggle it a little, open the hood and look under the camera area to see if anything is loose?

What software version are you on? I had the same thing happen after two weeks, next update fixed it.

Had the same issue a month ago. After the car went to sleep for the night the rearview camera worked again. I haven't had the problem again.

I’d suggest trying a software reset with the scroll wheels

Probable software issue. Have had it happen on both Teslas and software updates fixed. Still happens briefly sometimes when I transition from Netflix/YouTube to reverse gear.

Mine did this. Power off using the option on the screen, letting it sit for a few minutes without touching anything (including the door handle) solved it for me.

My Y had same issue
Just turn off sentry mode, park car 10min
It works again

I had the same issue on my first day when I got it home. Scroll wheel reboot fixed the problem. Check your software version and make sure you are not on the showroom version. If you have gotten any updates since you got the car, that won't be an issue.

Experienced exactly same thing today. while watching netflix i put the car in reverse rear cam went complete black and came back on after few seconds

This happened to my MY as well today when I went to drive the car and it has not fixed itself after a soft reset. Version 2020.24.6.5 250a46d88d9c. I'm going to try turning off sentry mode and power off the car.
