I miss the WRX the most.

1985 Toyota GT-S (AE86) Corolla (1.6L)
1997 Audi A4 Quattro (2.8L)
2006 Acura RL (3.5L)
2008 Pontiac G8 GT (6.0L)
2014 Tesla Model S 60
Current Vehicles:
2016 Tesla Model X 90D & 2015 BMW i3 BEV
2018 Tesla Model 3 (coming soon to replace i3)

Noteworthy: Each subsequent car got a bigger engine and/or more torque. No FWD, only RWD or AWD.

Curious how people who previously drove BMWs, especially 3 series, like the Tesla M3 compared to their Bimmer? My current car is a 2011 335d with the sport package (not M). It's a monster, and I love to drive it. I haven't driven a Tesla M3 yet, and am currently awaiting my VIN after configuting 4/18. I'm just hoping it is as exciting to drive.

I haven't been able to rent a Model-3 on Turo yet (all owners want multi-day rental agreements) but will try to do so soon.

The exterior of the Tesla Model 3 looks more distinctive and futuristic looking than the current generation BMW (I have a 2016 340xi)... not sure how that will hold up once hundreds of thousands of them are on the road.

Interior wise, about the only things that I like are the expansive glass canopy and the "clean/forward" design language of the cabin where you have a really good look ahead and over the hood of the car with no obstruction.

In every other area of the car's interior I find it extremely lacking compared to my BMW.

The front seats are not as good as the sport seats in my 340i. There is no extendable thigh support, lumbar adjustment not as good, headrest not as good, doesn't have the same side bolstering (also adjustable on my BMW), materials don't feel or look as good (BMW has dakota leather with contrast stitching). Rear seat is awful.... just a long low bench, I'm 5'10" and sitting back there my knees were up in the air with nothing under my thighs... would be horrible on a long drive. Glove box is flimsy, small and difficult to reach from the driver's side (easy to do in my current car)... plastic trim is shiny and in the demo car already scratched to crap after sitting out for one whole week.

#1 reason I would cancel my reservation at this point is the interior quality which is just seriously lacking compared to Japanese and German rivals in the same $50,000+ price point.

The M3 will be hard to give up, but it's time. A large 4-door sedan wouldn't be my first choice, but I want an electric car and the Model 3 is the one that's available.

2012 VW GTI Autobahn with APR Type II Carbon Fiber Air Intake, Chip Upgrade, and Turbo Exhaust

The 1991 CRX was amazing. The GTI was super fun to drive with the APR upgrades. But the M3 just feels magical to drive.

1990-2000: 1987 Nissan Pulsar. Manual. Decided to buy a new car after trouble in Tahoe driving down a hill during a snowstorm.
1999-2017: 1999 Subaru Legacy Sedan. Manual. Perfect for the handful of times I took it up to the snow. Bad concussion in 2001 put a serious dent in my snowboarding trips. Now owned by my niece.
2015-2018: 2015 VW eGolf. Leased, extended for 2 months. I needed to be sure I could adapt to the EV lifestyle before committing to a Tesla. I adapted very quickly.
2018: Model 3, configured, waiting for VIN, expect delivery by end May/early June

I drove my wife’s 2016 BMW 428 a few times. I didn’t get any excitement or wanting to own one. To me, It’s just another car with slightly better interior and quicker acceleration than my Acura 2006 TL. After driving my 3 for a few weeks now, I totally understand why people have posted that they would never fo back to an ICE car again. It’s such a fun and unique experience. I would never pay more than 40K for a car, but I would definitely buy a 3 if I have to do it all over again.

new 2018 Tesla model 3 (pry it out of my cold dead hands!)

The Tesla is the first (hopefully not only) non-japanese car brand I've ever owned.
