Would it be possible to use the cabin camera to monitor the driver's attention to the road ahead rather than sleeping or using his phone, thus eliminating the need to have a hand on the wheel while using autopilot?

I believe Cadillac uses an in-cabin camera to monitor the drivers eyes.

But I doubt they would remove the hands on wheel requirement. It would more likely serve as a redundant safety measure.
