So are they going to do it at the hanger, or bring 4 cars at a time over to the shop? It's not a very big service center - - just a small unit in an industrial area with a garage bay at the back. Not even a lot of parking at the front either. FYI, the Service Center is very close to the Toronto airport.

The are going to do it at the hanger. John will send a map and final papers once you pick a time.

... and pick up the Model S in the morning to drive it home. So the 9 am slot made sense. And of course I just couldn't help myself and picked the first day. Should be fun to go through delivery with three other owners.

Oh!!! I just realized that the (presumably) four of us could get the bragging rights for having the "first car in Canada". (evil grin!) Nice to share!

Doug, I guess you are sharing the experience with me as I am also 9am Thursday.

I was at the Service Centre today dropping off my Blizzaks and the place looks like a tire store! There were winter snow tires everywhere and they were taking delivery of 10 skids of 19" rims.

I am assuming your map location is approximate as it shows up smack in the middle, surrounded by runways and what is probably restricted roads :) Or maybe we get some kind of high level government security clearance because we drive such a cool car!

So much for us Production guys lurking around :frown: I've had tours of some of those facilities in the past, and there will be security checkpoints to get in and around there.

Can't be all that restrictive if the Google Street View car managed to sneak in there.

Really? I didn't think to check that. A few years ago, I had an escorted tour of some of those hangers and some of the aircraft in them. There was security at that time. Maybe I'll take a drive out there over the weekend and see what's up. Could be that they escorted the Google cars through. I don't think there's anything "top secret"... but they do want to keep civilians away from aircraft and the runways.

Obsession...

In case anyone else is as obsessed as me, this is the exact spot in the Fremont Tesla factory parking lot where the Canadian Signatures were parked prior to shipment. This is based on the EXIF data from the picture of my car sent to me by a kind Tesla staffer:

Took a swing by the Toronto Service Center this morning. No sign of any cars there. I also drove around the hangers, but I think I was in the wrong location! I was looking at the hangers adjacent to Derry Rd., not the ones off of Britannia/Courtney Park. May have to head back this afternoon!

...so I headed out to the location shown on laurentb's Google Map, and got pretty deep into what I assume are private roads, then hit security gates. If they are doing the event at those hangers, they'll have to provide some sort of pass or provisions to get in.

Actually, the facilities off of Derry road make a lot more sense. They are easier to access and are practically across the street from the Service Center. Several big hanger-type buildings there too.

Like I said. Doesn't surprise me. This roads near the hanger have access to taxiways if you look at the satellite view. Gates are to be expected.
