Car on old firmware

I have a late 2016 XP90DL with upgraded MCU2, HW3 and FSD-eligible and am also stuck on 2023.26.12 for a few months now. I've not followed the Tesla community for a while but felt Autopilot getting increasingly unreliable or unable to engage, often due to sun/weather or camera obstructions despite car being clean and no condensation in the pillar covers.

Yesterday, I had the HV Fuse needs replacement error that a lot of 2016/2017 build cars are getting. I scheduled an appointment, was pleased to see that Tesla eventually saw some sense and now covers the work under HV battery warranty, but was also very positively surprised that my appointment also includes a full HW3 camera upgrade at no cost, with payment labelled as "customer pre-paid".

Hopefully this means I will also leave the update embargo zone again.

Just had a message from Tesla Service, upgrade is complete please collect your vehicle. before I had chance to ask about why my car was not updating noticed on the app I'm now on the latest software 2023.44.30.8

I wonder if there are any other changes (added) features after the camera upgrade.

My 2017 model S 75 seems to have stuck on 2023.26.12 since 27/09/2023

Model S 90D 2017, FSD, HW3, MCU2, Europe.

Interesting, you are the second owner im hearing about the camara upgrade this week. Are you in Europe?

I’ve booked my car in for the HW3 camera upgrade. Quote came back as zero cost. I’m in UK.

My 2017 Model S received the HW3 camera upgrade and was successfully updated to 2023.44.30.8.

After the camera upgrade, the technician (or automatically?) installed version 2023.27.16 once more, and then the autopilot changed to vision-based.
And when I went into the software tab, the 44.30 update was started.

hi, s75D @Norway here, stuck in 2023.26.12 since sept myself. Had a service today to get them to check why it was "stuck", but they upgraded all my cameras instead since i have HW3 + MCU2.

How do you know if your car is using Vision only?

I believe the way to tell if the car is using vision only is the ability to adjust cruise gap to one vehicle, lowest you can go on vision only is 2

I asked about it in the app, and they booked mobile service to do the camera upgrade for free. 2016.5 S75 MCU2 HW3. Did anyone who had this done find that the USS and Radar still works after the upgrade? We don't have any autopilot at all currently, just basic non-adaptive cruise control. I'm just worried we're going to lose the parking sensors, which I don't want to do.

my parking sensors still work after camera upgrades, only difference is follow distance minimum is now 2 instead of 1

My 2017 MS is still stuck on 2023.26.12. But I already had the camera upgrade on December 9, so I don’t think it’s quite that simple.

If my invoice is correct, it appears that they installed the wrong "LAMP ASY, SIDE REPEATER CAMERA, LEFT". Could that explain why my 2017 MS is still on software version 2023.26.12, as opposed to 2023.44.30.x?

I haven't bothered chasing up AP camera upgrades. I thought FSD Beta in Europe was still years away from deployment due to ongoing legislation challenges?

My car had its HW3 cameras fitted last week. It updated to 2023.44.30.9 the same day, afterwards. And is on .14 now. I suspect the ultrasonic sensors are still in place. At least, the animations appear the same on parking while manoeuvring around objects. I’ve got no way of directly knowing if the radar still works. I suspect not - just due to knowing about the vision-only strategy and the admittedly anecdotal comment on minimum TACC separation changing from 1 to 2 post upgrade.
