Considering a Used Model X

AP1 is called autopilot with convenience features. All X's built before 10/2016 are AP1. It's 3000 to activate it if it only says autopilot hardware.

Battery size is most important IMO, but 100d prices are a bit too high still. Most cars under 50k miles come with a 4 year warranty, which the X seems to need much more than our 3.

75d, VIN > 1k, and mindset to walk away if you don't like it would help. Good deals also sell very quickly (same day), so checking daily would increase chances of finding something you like.

I just got off the phone with a used inventory specialist and he was really helpful and knowledage. (He's an owner himself). He told me if it says "Autopilot Hardware" or "Autopilot Convenience Features", it's the same thing (AP1) and they are working on uniforming the name.

We are test driving the X later this afternoon as I want to make sure my wife likes it. I couldn't just walk in today as the stores in NY are extremely busy. I had to make an appointment.

So my wife and I both just test drove it. We both got eye strain and headaches during the 10 minute drive. I never get motion sickness. The used inventory specialist told me some people are bothered by the windshield. Anyone else experience this? The model S has never given me these symptoms, but my wife did have to adjust to it.

My wife and I are now in our 70's an have a home in AZ. We had an S for 6 months here and found it's low profile didn't work for us. We had a Mod X loaner for a weekend while the S was in for a repair. Fell in love with the car. Profile and adjustable suspension made this Model very workable for us. We purchased a used 2016 Mod X P90D with AP1. The Tesla service center did correct several issues under the "customer courtesy" policy. We got the 4 yr warranty, and life-time free supercharging. 24 superchargers are within 5 miles of us. We have solar panels so all ICE vehicles are now permanently out of the picture, period. For us, the wind-shield was a got-to-have feature..in the summer we do put up the included window-shield sunshade. When we have family visiting, the falcon doors and third row are used and especially loved by the 6 yr old grandchild. In the first year, we did have two warranty repairs - front struts and mcu unit replaced. We get an average of 4 miles/ kWh in our first EV, a BMW i3 BEV, so our 2.5-3 miles/kWh of the X is disappointing but it is so much more car. It is worth the trade off especially with the free supercharging. I think the Mod X is the best car ever.

We still own our original 2014 BMW i3 BEV. This is my wife's favorite car. For LI use, we passed on the Mod 3 and purchased a new 2018 BMW i3S REX when PSEG had the $10K rebate. That car is perfect for us when we on LI. Performance, handling and operating cost are tops.
