CPO Timeline Advise Needed

Hello All!

First time posting so I do apologize in advance. After a long time lurking in the shadows I have finally saved enough money to purchase my very own CPO Tesla Model S and I couldn't be happier. I am posting for two reasons, first to introduce myself to everyone and second to ask for advise on the timeline so far of the delivery of my vehicle.

2/08/16 Placed deposit.
2/16/16 Reconditioning process complete and relocate vehicle from Boston to the Fremont Factory requested (Was told this would take roughly 2 weeks).
2/24/16 Requested an update, was informed the vehicle would arrive at Fremont on 3/01/16.
3/02/16 Requested an update as the 2nd estimated arrival past, was informed vehicle was still on transport truck located in Arkansas. Also was informed that the transport fee would be $1500, was not told about this fee until this date.
3/03/16 Was informed that no ETA was available on my vehicle and Tesla has no control over the delay as they contract carriers to ship their vehicles.

I would like to request from CPO owners if this was their experience with Tesla's communication or am I just on the receiving end of a one time bad experience. Going forward is there any advise one could give if the transport of my vehicle exceeds 1 month? Should it take this long to transport?

I thank you for any advise it is much appreciated.

I've heard that the shipping time can vary quite a bit. Scuttlebutt was that they have semi-regular shipments, and depending on when you ordered and when the semi-regular shipments are, it could end up taking more or less time.

It says on the order page that shipment may require a transportation fee of up to $1500. They really need to be more upfront about it though -- make it more obvious, and clearly communicate what the actual shipping fee will be as immediately after order as possible.

I got my CPO from New Jersey. Delivery advisor mentioned I was lucky to get the car in 3 weeks in December in Fremont. Weather is another factor that can mess with delivery times.
The $1500 charge is standard for transporting from another region.
I would wait it out - will be worth it.

Transport times can be really hard to predict. I bought my P85 from southern California, and it took 3 weeks to get it shipped. The trip only took 2 days, once it started moving, but it took 3 weeks to find a trailer going the right way. I also wanted an enclosed trailer, so that took longer.

It will be worth it when it finally arrives!

Communication during the CPO process is one big area for Tesla to improve on. Just expect that one day you will receive a call that its in. From deposit to delivery I was told 2 weeks, ended up being closer to 4 which I expected after reading other forum members posts.

CPO delivery is ~3 weeks from deposit

I just went through this process and posted my delivery experience in another thread.

I placed my $1K deposit on February 10 and was told to expect delivery to take 3 weeks.

Motor vehicle purchase agreement (MVPA) uploaded to MyTesla account on February 17. The pro-forma included the $750 freight fee. I was also told about the fee up front by Brent Seavey. The dee was not negotiable since Tesla contracts with 3rd party trucking companies. MVPA indicated estimated delivery date on or about March 5.

Car arrived from Colorado to Fremont on February 23.

Delivery Experience Specialist (Hannah Ehlenback) confirmed car had arrived on February 24 and said that she had scheduled my car for wheel refurb (light curb rash). I requested a pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and scheduled for February 26 since I had never seen the car in person before, only in photos that were sent from Colorado sales center.

Delivery scheduled and taken on March 2 with Matthew Do, Delivery Orientation Specialist.

I really do believe it to be just the luck of the draw Dag. I live in Florida, my car shipped from California and got here in less than two weeks from my order date ( I was told it would take anywhere from 3 weeks to a month). I barely had time to get my financing in order!

Alaron, do you remember the original time frame for delivery? They were telling me before April, now its sometime in the first two weeks of.

Bought a CPO S60 in July/August. Reconditioned/Shipped/etc from Tampa, FL to Scottsdale, AZ in roughly 3 weeks from my deposit date. I picked it up a week after that. IIRC, communication from the DS was great for the first week after I ordered it. Then it really dropped off due to DS being busy with deliveries in multiple states (CA/AZ).

I should also mention that communication of the $1500 due for shipping was clear for me because I called TM sales prior to purchasing to confirm that $1500 extra would be charged. So I guess the difference might be my proactivity (proactiveness? proactivinity? -- sorry, I'm loopy today)

I ordered my CPO in December 2015. Admittedly it was a busy time for Tesla.
The reconditioning was suppose to be done in Florida, where the car was, but it was just shipped to NY with only some things done. I assume they were busy and there must have been a truck coming this way so they rushed it.
Once it got here it took a while for things to get done. In fact not everything was done, but I wanted the car and so I took delivery with a long "Due list".
I've had the car for just over a month now (Dec 29 order, Feb 2 delivery) and some of the things are still pending (waiting for parts).
Hoping everything gets done this month (March).

Well the wait is finally coming to a close.
The car arrived 3/8 and went through a final inspection on 3/9. I have a test drive today then they will keep it for another 48 hours to detail the car. Scheduled delivery on 3/15, earlier time slots were full.

Thank you everyone for your input it is much appreciated!!

Right now I'm looking at 15 days for shipping and 3 days for service/detailing. I could see it taking longer for cars that need a greater level of reconditioning or are being shipped further or just miss a regular shipment and have to wait for the next.

Good news saw the car today! Bad news the east coast service center failed to recondition the car correctly and there is many issues to address. 2 door panels and entire bumper will need to be replaced due to scratches and dings. Other spots will need to retouched or replaced. Delivery guy said minimum 2 weeks for repairs....sigh.
