Do yourself a favor and get permits if you're going to do it yourself. You'd hate to have an electrical fire - even if it's not your fault entirely but your work gets blamed and your insurance gets cancelled. Like I said in a previous post, I've seen no shortage of insanely bad home owner special work done cause they watched a YouTube video (who also didn't do the work properly). Stay safe.

100% agree. Our home was a flip, and we were very curious why, as was our electrician friend, that when we went to setup the wall connector the garage subpanel was fed by a 6 awg wire, and noted in an old permit from 1995 as a 50 amp panel, and yet a 30 amp breaker was going off the main. Long story short, the flipper added a bunch of extra circuits without doing them properly and the main kept tripping...probably thought it was the garage and downgraded it. Low and behold, after getting all that cleaned up and a 50 amp breaker put back, the flipper gave our 6 awg wire a "hair cut" to make it fit the 30 amp breaker. Fortunately there was enough good wire our friend was able to cut off the bad bits, but talk about a freaking fire hazard. o_O

Permit was $65 for us and the inspection took 10 minutes. That's a pretty cheap investment compared to the price of any home if you ask me.

I called to check status after 2 days and got a phone approval. Still have to submit credentials and haven't received a rate sheet to send off to Tesla.
I contacted DCU but was never able to get my application through for some reason even after I talked with someone on the phone. I have really good credit score (over 830 on the 850 scale). I ended up going with Bank of American which offered 2.09%. Tesla matched it right away.

Wonderful, I was told there is a hold on my vehicle because of a blemish in the paint. SA wants me to take delivery of the car and schedule the body work later when hey are not so backed up. Its been sitting there with the work order for two weeks with nothing done to it...

Issue is, the service center does not answer the phones and my SA's request from 4 hours ago to release the vehicle from service is not getting done. I was already told by a delivery specialist there that he is too busy to deal with me, and to go through my SA. But my SA can't get the service department to respond!

Slowly but surely I'm really starting to loose faith in Tesla here. I'm not even sure I want a car that needs body repair when its brand new! I seriously cant wait until there is more competition!, I'm seeing the horror stories I read about unfold in front of me.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but you should cancel your order. The fact is Tesla doesn't work like other automotive manufacturers because they don't have Dealerships, so they handle everything from warranty claims to delivery differently. This week is extremely abnormal because they're delivering more cars this week than they have in 2+ months combined so they are very busy. The car shouldn't need repair when it's brand new...but then don't accept it.

They're giving you the option of taking it home today and bringing it back for fixing up later, so you can get your car early...if you'd rather they fix it before you take it home you can tell them that and they'll do it, but who knows how long this current boom of deliveries will last...it could be a month or more.

EDIT: Some of the bigger dealerships are going through dozens of deliveries in a single day...probably as much as they'd normally do in WEEKS. Give them the benefit of the doubt that they're doing what they can or cancel your order because you're unhappy. Honestly, so many people on this sub are losing their minds over having to wait a few days for something they'll probably have for 8+ years. If you buy a Tesla you are a beta tester for them...I'd say honestly get used to them having a pretty strong amount of control over what your car does and how the process works. That's not for everyone...but that's why I'm saying if you don't like this I'd suggest maybe looking at more traditional brands - this is part of the deal.

Glad you had a great experience.

From what I have read any Model 3 and Model Y built after 4/27 does not have the radar sensor (Tesla loses U.S. designation for some advanced safety features). As Tesla pushes out software update the designations will change. So, I do not think this is a big deal.

I think removing safety features will impact insurance premiums. 🤔
The tone of the article sounds to me like it's just a matter of time for the agency to get their hands on a Tesla without radar and confirm those features are still working.

No doubt, but it makes sense to do the small amount of research (5 minutes) to see if that is something you think you can do then make the decision instead of just assume you can't and pay someone.
I would also note that having the knowledge gives you information. I'm quite comfortable doing electrical work as I spent 5+ years as a theatrical electrician. However, when it came time to install my Tesla charger (hard line) + NEMA 14-50 outlet for my wife's car I hired someone. It's not about how comfortable I feel, it's about a pro doing a good job. My knowledge means I can look at their work and approve it before I pay, or say "hey, that's not code" or "that doesn't look right".

I would also note that a good electrician takes the time to do the job right. I paid $800 for my two installs, but we over spec'd the wire to the 14-50 outlet (#4 instead of #6) in case we want to upgrade the breakers to 60AMP to get a 48AMP charger (note that you have to have a 60A circuit for a 48A charger) and replace the outlet with a hardline (also note that a 60A outlet doesn't exist, so full speed charging at 48A lvl 2 has to be a hard line). They installed conduit, made it look nice and they certify their work. 3.5 hours for a 2-man crew to do the job right + cost of materials totaled $800, that time that I had to work and earn money was worth paying a pro.

I paid $800, but the cable (4AWG/4 Conductor) would have been about $6/ft (about 40' needed for my install) or $240 + NEMA Outlet $50 + Conduit $30 + Breakers $25 + Contactor Breaker Switch (for generator) $60 . So I would have paid $405 for materials. That means I spent about $100/hour for a 2 man crew to do the work for me. Well worth every penny, since their work is also insured and certified by inspection.

They have the round part near the outside edge - that is the easiest way to tell.
here are the headlights that are in all the new ones I see..

No mud flaps on any of them..

6/3 is rated for 60A residential - I was considering the 4/3 and the electrician said it's not necessary, plus it's a bitch to get into corners, etc... while installing.
