Delivery location- Marina del Rey or Costa Mesa, CA?

To anyone who has picked up their model 3 in LA County or Orange County - We live in LA County, on the border of Orange County. We reserved our car at the Buena Park SC (Orange Co) and expect to receive our invitation to configure soon. The MDR delivery center is in LA County, but it is much further than Costa Mesa and a painful drive on the 405. Can you request your delivery location? The MDR center sounds like it is much larger. Can you pick up you car sooner if it is delivered there? Thank you for any insights you may offer.

I'm picking up at the Costa Mesa location this Saturday and DS told me it was already assigned to my account and could change it but could case a delay. If I was you i would just go to C.M.

Thank you, bnsfengineer. If I understand you correctly, Tesla assigned the Costa Mesa delivery center to you. We hope we get Costa Mesa assigned to us as well. I appreciate your insight.

We are picking up our M3 this Saturday morning 3-3-18. When the DS called us, as soon as the VIN was assigned, he gave us the choice of either one and said it made no difference as the car was still waiting transport from the factory. They did say we could pick it up Friday but we have no time Friday and Saturday morning worked. Finally!

I chose to pick up my replacement X @ CM even though I am little closer to MDR and was assigned to MDR by default. The reason is simple, I hate the traffic on 405 toward the north. It's much better to go CM on any day (week day or weekend) without traffic and we can drop by South Coast Plaza for a walk. If I were you CM is no brainer because of how close it is.

The order page said I can pick up at my closest service center but that is not true. My closest service center is Torrance which is only few miles away, but they don't do deliveries.

We picked up at Costa Mesa on Saturday and everything went very smoothly! Even received our little toy Tesla and we didn't wait in line!! Awesome crew at Costa Mesa!! Also no hood issues or fitment of any kind that I can find! Only real issue is the phone app not connecting sometimes? Otherwise could not be happier with quality of car overall!!

CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you for the update. So glad to hear that you had a near perfect delivery experience and we hope to be following in your footsteps in the next few weeks. Enjoy your car and please let me know how it goes.

Made a new friend Saturday we also picked up our new M3 same time as bnsfengineer! The only Quality Control issue we found were two. White tape residue left on the interior in one spot from protective shipping plastic covers. Soon as I found it the delivery person made it go away! The more serious issue was the drivers door sill model three kick plate. It is metal and had a dent in it that can’t be fixed. They have to replace the part. The Tesla crew apologized and was surprised to find it. But I found it not them. They noted it in the delivery paperwork and said Service would be contacting me when the replacement part is ready.

BY THE WAY, WE LOVE THIS CRAZY COOL CAR!

I picked up my car from Costa Mesa on Saturday, 2-10-18.

The delivery center is small, but pretty conviently located right next to the freeway if coming from Buena Park (I also live 4 miles from the Buena Park center). On a Saturday morning, there was no traffic to and from the center, just stay out of the car pool lane near the discovery cube on the 5 south (cause there is always traffic in the hov lane there) and you’re golden.

Buying our first Tesla was a very easy, pleasing and unique experience. You could be in and out in 10 minutes if you didn’t want them to review all the features, but the tutorial is a very nice treat! The delivery specialists are very patient and friendly. Since it was Chinese New Years, they also gave uus some ‘Tesla’ red envelopes.

Here’s a pic of us at the Costa Mesa center picking up our M3.
