Delivery on hold until July?

Does your order state "Your order is on hold"? It would be right under that. If it's not on hold then it would be asking for registration/insurance/delivery details. After that it gives a delivery estimate.
No, I don't have such note.. Anyways.. I did call Tesla of Tampa and they checked and they said that there is nothing outstanding on my part. Just have to wait for my VIN..

Same situation here, on hold until July 2nd. Want delivery in August or can even wait until September if the federal credit sounds like it’s coming in Summer. Based on what you guys are planning, perhaps I’ll release my hold sometime in June to snag this delivery time frame. Keep this thread updated on how things progress for you guys and I’ll do the same.

I placed a deposit on Thursday and my delivery dates were June 9-June30. However I talked to a delivery specialist and told her I wasn’t planning on getting the vehicle until June so she placed a hold on my account until May 31st. I see that the weeks have changed to 5-12 weeks for a Tesla model 3 and I would like to get my vehicle at the latest Middle of July. Would it be smart to click I’m ready now since my dates were in the range I wanted to acquire the vehicles s just defer if it comes sooner or keep the hold and just hope I get it before mid july ?

Agreed. I think we’ll likely have fairly different experiences since I'm in SoCal and you’re in NY. Makes me curious how this will play out.

My Feb 21 order has said "get ready for delivery" since late February, and hasn't been updated with any estimated delivery date on my account.

I suspect a SA may reach out to me in late-May or in June to see if I'm ready to take delivery. If I ignore them, my order will probably get pushed to Q3 and I'll probably get a call in Aug or Sept for delivery.

Considering Q2 is already sold out I think even if you ordered now it be highly unlikely to get delivery by mid July. I ordered at the the end of Q1 and looking at end of May to June. With demand picking up I assume it will be a longer weight depending on location and specs.

from my SA this afternoon....

The MY LR is now a 5-12 week wait. As of today I think releasing my hold on June 1st might be too late for an August delivery. I’m leaning towards May 24th now.

We already know Q2 is sold out, so the most likely earliest is July 1st no matter when we release.

I’ll continue to watch Tesla.com and if the wait extends further, I’ll release earlier, and vice versa. Also watching the Current Delivery Times thread to gain insights.

Yikes, 12 weeks. Yeah I’m doing the same as you, closely watching that thread and Tesla.com. With Q2 sold out I’ve been curious if they are just piling those orders into the start of Q3.

Did you put your order on hold? In CA you should have gotten an end of Q1 delivery unless you told them you wanted to hold off til June.

For those of,you wanting to release a hold now to get Q3 delivery, you will likely get asked to take delivery in June if an inventory car becomes available and your SA assigns it to you. Just because Q2 is “sold out” that doesn’t mean people who make up those reservations won’t be passing on them when the time comes for delivery.

With Tesla there are no guaranteed delivery dates. If you want a delivery in August, you could get it anywhere from July to September depending on what is available in your area. CA seems to be the only location where delivery windows are semi accurate for MY since there are less logistics for delivering as they come off the line. Especially in the Bay Area.

Hi, newbie here, just wondering, is there a difference is preferring to take delivery in Q3 vs Q2? Anything dealing with the way the cars are built?
I believe fit & finish continues to get better. Therefore, less panel gaps and such if you wait until Q3.
  • MY may get the updated inside front door trims in Q3 since they have already started on the M3.
  • Very small chance of MY AWD LR updated headlights in Q3 since MYP already has updated headlights.
  • 82 kwh Battery Pack. Unconfirmed MY is standard yet. Might not really increase range, but may add buffer to protect from battery degradation and better meet EPA range estimates.
  • Extremely small chance of HEPA Bioweapon Defense Mode. Only seen in China so far, but may come to the US at some point. Some suspect when Gigfactory Austin is up and running.
  • Pretty much no chance until Q4 for the Gigapress Single rear casting on MY. Definitely not expected until Gigafactory Austin is up and running.
  • Possibly better paint jobs, but not until Gigafactory Austin is up and running in Q4.

Some folks are "holding out" for a potential Tax Credit to be reinstated (or point of sale credit). The less traction this has though it becomes more and more unlikely to happen in 2021, and may be in effect for 2022 (if ever). I'm in this boat, but not expecting it to happen.

This is what my SA was implying as well. Since I'm in Orange County, it seems they can fill it quickly (if they want to).

I made a post about this already, but long story short I was assigned a VIN in March and was ready to take delivery of the car (even paid the ACH ahead of time), but for whatever reason Tesla gave that VIN to somebody else and sold the car before I could take delivery on it. No apology or explanation except that they would try to get me another car, which never happened.

I didn't bother following up & bugging them about it either since I wasn't in a rush to replace the Model 3 I had just sold (still not right now since we're still working remotely until later this year), but I still have my original order in and it's still active on my account, so I'll eventually buy a Model Y sometime this year - probably in Q3 when I'll actually need another car by then.

BTW, Tesla was actually fast on refunding my ACH payment once they screwed up and sold the car to somebody else. I didn't inquire about it, but just saw it refunded to my account a couple of days later.
