I could also just be a ploy to get people to stop waiting for a higher battery and buy a 100. Tesla needs cash so any fence-sitters they can grab is good for them. They want from 85 to 100 pretty fast so no doubt some people that would upgrade or buy may have been waiting for a bigger battery.
