I've gotten into the habit of jiggling the steering wheel slightly side to side to tell the car I'm here every few minutes. That keeps all warnings away. It isn't as if you are preoccupied doing something else while monitoring AP, right guys? Right?
Gently tugging the steering wheel in one direction is also enough to hold off the alerts indefinitely... Which also leads to the point that holding steering wheel != paying attention to surroundings.... But anyway, that's a different debate

FWIW: During a very recent visit to my SvC, I inquired if the rumored 5 September release was accurate; no answer, however, my question prompted a big Cheshire grin from the service manager.

Service centers have absolutely no visibility on the release date of a software version.
Yes and no. The steering wheel often can block that bottom area. But truth be told, if I'm on AP, why would I pay attention to the speed? I'm must more concerned with the proximity of other vehicles around me.
I never heard of any 9/5 rumor (where did you see that?) and Service people aren't really clued into things like that from Corporate.

Would basically be a use case of lane change (including its limitation of the car being blind to anything happening behind the frunk, which would be even more dangerous in merging/interchanging scenarios where lot of traffic is coming from behind). How would that be new?

One time I had mine in for service and I had a new firmware version they'd never seen before and they asked me about it. It had updated a few days earlier. I agree. I don't think they always have the latest information on current firmware, let alone upcoming firmware.

Elon in a Tweet last year while 7.0 (AP) was in the final phase of testing mentioned the testers. I *think* it is called the Early Access Program (or something like that).
I'm suggesting that just because a version is currently in EAP, doesn't necessarily clue you in on where it is on the schedule for release to the general public.
For example, if you said you saw version 8.2 on the screen of your friend with a model X while supercharging at the service center in Fremont (the one with the 12 secret superchargers that don't show up on your nav), last Thursday, I would not assume 8.2 is days/weeks away from release.

If I worked at a service center, I'd respond to every question about rumors or future plans with a grin like that, just to screw with people.
Oh okay. So you need to go back an re-read what I said. You will see that MY reference to the existence of EAP was related to 7.0 not 8.0. You will also learn when you scroll back that it was Elon, not me, that said 8.0 was in final testing. That's how it was determined where it was in the testing process.
