Largest Floating Solar Energy Farm at Sea Planned for the Netherlands
"Largest Floating Solar Energy Farm at Sea Planned for the Netherlands"
BREAKING: Suniva petition could start new global solar trade war
"I have been a leader in the US solar industry for 40 years now and run a major solar EPC firm in CA. We will commit to NOT using and boycotting Suniva modules as long as their anti-US solar industry action continue.
It has been the availability of low cost, high quality modules that has fueled the growth of the US solar industry — installers, BOS, engineering and the like.
Their actions, like that of SolarWorld before them, hurt the vast majority of the US solar industry.
It is a BAD idea on so many fronts and know you will never get our business this way. Boycott Suniva!"
En de tweede:
"It’s ironic for a Chinese owned US Solar company to ask Trump to impose tariffs on Chinese imports.
Trump is called to settle a Chinese family feud and favor one solar company over the others.
Shunfeng must have known when it bought Suniva that the company’s future prospects were dim, the rationale behind the acquisition was to use Suniva as a front to make Shunfeng products qualify as US made panels.
Now Suniva is being used by Shunfeng to cause harm to its Chinese rivals: Trina, Canadian Solar, Jinko, JA,Suniva’s management is to blame for its bankruptcy, many indicators point to Suniva’s management incompetence and even worst: Suniva completed a $250 million expansion in December 2016 and filed for bankruptcy 4 months later.
Why would Suniva management expand capacity if they were not sure about their future prospects?
If they were so inept in forecasting price and demand for just 4 months, why should we trust them in deciding the future of the solar industry in the US.
How did lenders provide the funding to this company when it was clear that it can’t compete and remain an ongoing concern?
One can presume that the founders knew of its questionable future when they sold 63% of the company to Shunfeng. $250 million seems an inflated figure for a relatively small plant that’s not even state of the art (as can be seen in the pictures : on
Suniva reports 59 layoffs to state of Michigan ) , the tax credits and rebates could have paid for the whole investment with a few millions left over.
One can commission a 10MW solar PV plant for less than $1 million. There is hardly any solar manufacturing capacity left in the US (FirstSolar is limping along and SunPower is a French company owned by Total).
It does not make sense for the ITC to hurt the future of 260000 workers in the PV solar installation business to protect the 2000 working for foreign owned solar panel makers.
Many current and former employees Suniva’s employees give very poor marks to the management in their reviews on indeed and glassdoor."
