J1772 adapter, charging practicalities

...pull the adapter and J1772 apart with your hands?...

Probably not too hard actually. I find that most J1772 plugs and sockets come apart quite easily.

There were some exceptions with some early/"funky" J1772 plugs, so hopefully Tesla engineered their adapter to be easy to unplug from any/all J1772 plugs.

I got to handle that adapter yesterday. Apparently TSL02 refers to the Model S connector.

Interesting: there's a clear warning that the adaptor should be connected to the vehicle first before the J1772 is plugged into the adaptor. Any reason why?

My guesses are:

1. The adaptor has extra protection built in to protect the car from something bad happening with the ESVE.

2. The ESVE has some circuitry that won't allow it to charge unless connection is made in a specific order.

3. The connection to the car is delicate. (I really hope this is not the case)

So, have you had your model S for about a year and not used the J1772 adapter? If so PM me where to send the pizza.

I used the J1772 adapter once to test whether a problem was with the UMC or not. It failed (didn't charge using J1772 either), so technically I've never charged the car with the adapter in 10+ months. I don't expect I will use it in the next two months either.
