I've made my peace with it sir GG! We'll see if the Model X comes in that titanium for sigs ;)
Dear Ownership Advocate,
I would sincerely appreciate it if you could find a way to nudge the system such that 'accidentally' my Signature Model S ended up with the Brown paint rather than a Signature color.
I won't tell anyone and you'll be my bestest friend forever.
Sincerely,
AnOutsider

Give it a shot, sir. Bonus points for having the guts to Cc Elon and George B.

If nothing else, you might get a great story out of it.

Finalize order email

We are # R123 and received our config email on Friday July 13 (who said that was an unlucky date).

Haven't taken action yet, so don't know the est. delivery date. Planning to attend one of the Texas test drive events in Aug. anyone know how long you can sit on a config email before having to take action?

Very exciting through!

Apparently, you have 30 days to sign the MVPA; as long as you sign in this window, there's no impact on the delivery date (one of the Rs earlier on this thread confirmed that with his Tesla rep).

If you need to go past the 30-day window, you presumably might have to take the one-time deferral.

There should be a phone number on the mail, just give them a call. We're that close to August, I don't imagine you'd have to take a deferral.

Tesla Personal Delivery

Here's an informative posting at the official Tesla forum by Special Signature reservation holder #4 providing more details of the Personal Delivery process:

Rod and Barbara | July 14, 2012

Here is a little more insight on the delivery process. We are Special Signature #4. On July 6 we received an email from a Tesla Delivery Experience Specialist saying he anticipates our car being ready for delivery the week of July 29 through August 4. The email included the following questions:

“1. Are you available to take delivery from 7/29/12 through 8/4/12? Do you have any vacation or travel planned during this time? Whatever your schedule, we are happy to accommodate and set a delivery date convenient for you. (Note: The Delivery Team will contact you a little over a week in advance to set the specific date and time)

2. Where would you like to take delivery of your Model S? We can deliver to your home, office, favorite restaurant, nearest Tesla Service Center, or a location of your choice. (Note: There may be additional tax implications if you choose to have your car delivered to a location other than your registration address.)

3. Tesla Motors provides financing options. If you are interested in financing your Model S with Tesla’s help, please contact the Tesla Credit Team at [email protected].

4. Tesla Motors has partnered with AutoNation Direct to facilitate trade in vehicles. Are you interested in trading in a vehicle? (If yes, please indicate whether the trade in is a Tesla Roadster or if it’s a non-Tesla vehicle, the year, make and model)

5. Certain states require a front license plate bracket. Some owners choose not to include this. Would you like a front license plate bracket installed on your Model S pre-delivery?”

We are having our Model S delivered to our home and chose to have the front license plate bracket installed pre-delivery. We are not financing our purchase and not trading in a vehicle so we can't comment on that process.

and

One thing I forgot mention in my previous post is that the Roadster HPC to Model S adaptor is available for purchase and delivery with your Model S. The cost of the adapter is $650. We are having an adaptor delivered with our car. However, you need to ask about adapter. The availability of the adapter for purchase and delivery was not mentioned in the original Tesla email from our Delivery Experience Specialist.

I've adjusted the question because it makes me curious...

Did they ever officially announce that U.S. Rs would be delivered before Canadian Sigs?

No, they didn't. However they seem to have gotten stuck trying to get the pricing out for Canadian cars, and that must be holding things up. I gather the delay is related to whether the car qualifies under NAFTA as a > 50% made-in-USA car; if it doesn't the price goes up due to 6.1% duty.

After attending the driving event in DC over the weekend, I canceled my Signature reservation (S920) today. Its not that there was anything wrong with the car; it was a lot of fun to drive, but I feel the car is still incomplete. Fo rxample, I was told that the auto door handle extending when you approach the car with the keyfob in your pocket would not ship with the car, but will be a future update (upgrade?). They still have not determined the service intervals and what needs to be done, but told me the service cost would be between 500 and 600 dollars. I was told the car will not ship with 4G or even LTE, but rather 3G; that Elon was mistaken in his statement that the car was 4G ready. They told me 4G and/or LTE will be a future upgrade (cost unknown).
However, the major reason for canceling is the lack of safety features that are available on cars from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and even Cadilac. Blind side detection will be a future option, but they could not state when it will be available. A collision precvention system will hopefuilly be offered in the future, but again, no time frame was provided. I have had 4 retina detachments, and thus consider safety features to be more important that 4.4 seconds for 0-60 mph. Such features should be available on a car that costs approximately $110K when fully configured; they are available on cars from the above-noted manufacturers for approximately $65K.
Another factor in canceling was that the Signature red paint has changed over time. The Sunset Red paint on one of the test cars is very similar to the alpha car I saw 3 years ago and fell in love with. And the Tesla people at the drive event agreed. The Signature Red is very similar to the paint color on my Lexus and Prius. So after much consideration, I canceled the reservation today. As I said, nothing against the car, just that my current vision situation results in me putting a greater emphais on safety features, especially in view of a report about a week ago stating that the front collison avoidance systems from Mercedes et al, reduce frontal accidents by about 18 percent. I have not had an accident in nearly 40 years of driving, but think that in view of my vision not being what it was several years ago, a car with all the currently available safety features is a better fit for me.
I have kept my Production reservation (P258), and will likely defer it for 6 months to give Tesla the opportunity to "finish" the car. If they have not added the features by that time, but offer a 1 or 2 year lease, I may do that, to give them more time to add these features to the car. As I said, I was told they will be added as options, but they would not indicate when.
BTW. I was also told that Tesla is planning to sell the cell time to the owner. That is, you would purchase a cell plan from Tesla, not ATT or whoever they use.
I hope Tesla will eventually offer a system like ONSTAR. Mercedes and Lexus have a similar system. In all these systems, if you have a collision, the center is automatically notified to call an ambulance.

Re the cell plan, it definitely is not Verizon. They told me Verizon would not talk to them about allowing them to sell plans. Their current plan is to purchase a huge block of data per month, which they would resell to the vehicle owners in smaller blocks. Verizon would not permit them to do this. They would not state which carrier they are using, but since it is GSM based, it either has to be ATT or T-Mobile. When I said ATT was used in the Roadster, the rep merely smiled.
