"Meet Model X: Exclusive Viewing"

May I hazard a guess that kids should be waived in the guest count for the show room but they are included in the count if they want to ride along in a test drive.

The problem is: Who's doing the babysitting while a test drive is done?

Any volunteer for child care center operation for the day?

No test drive for this invitation. This is event is strictly for viewing only. The closest thing to test drive for this event would be sit in a parked car while checking the interior.

I think its all over the place, I live in Orange County and got an invite to Burbank.

Didn't RSVP though, sitting in one is just gonna make me want it sooner (and I already did so at the Reveal back in September).

If one comes up at Buena Park/Costa Mesa, I might go along.

Got my invite to the Manhattan showroom on 2/23/16 but it had already filled by the time I could reply. My X is on order, I don't know when delivery might be (ordered on 1/11/16 and finalized on 1/19/16). I wasn't sure if I'll get the car soon enough or is it months away. There's no info on the MyTesla website. Any other way to know? Thanks.

Depends on your configuration: P90D (early 2016) comes before 90D (mid 2016) which comes before 70D (mid to late 2016).

At this point, when you'll get your car is unknown, but based on the available data, it appears that P90Ds with the Premium Upgrades Package may be moving along through production faster than those without it. I say this based on what we've seen in Model X tracker with VIN assignments and estimated delivery dates.

I configured my 90D on December 13th and the order was confirmed on December 20. It's a 90D (without the "P" upgrade) but with everything else but the 22-inch wheels. My best guess is that I'll get my car in June or July. It could be earlier or later, but that's my guess. I do have a DS (Delivery Specialist) assigned, but he has been no more specific than "mid 2016".

It just occurred to me that we may be talking about 2 different types of events.

The one I've been to earlier was a 15 minute test drive. That invite came as part of the January Model X update email that I received on January 22. (I'm an low-ish reservation number, but haven't ordered).

I, at least, haven't seen any other kind of invitation.

Well they only sent one email right?

In Manhattan, there were two distinctly different events:

a.) A one-on-one "Meet the X" test drive which I believe was scheduled each half hour from 10-6 on the applicable days (2/23 to 2/26 in NYC). Since I have a confirmed order, I did not get invited to these events.
b.) Evening reception on February 23rd from 7-9 PM, which I'm assuming is more of a group event with one or two Xes that you can get in, play with, but not drive. I *did* get invited to this one, but tried to RSVP 2 hours after it was sent, and the event was full.

Here's what the second event invitation looked like:

Same thing in the case of Chicago. Feb 13 test drives by appointment (for reservation holders who haven't configured/ordered), Feb 15 evening 2-hr "viewing" event for those who have ordered. I for one believe this is an appropriate and well thought-out approach. That is, invest more resources into driving conversion of reservations into orders, but still *generally* do right by those who have ordered by giving them an opportunity to touch and feel the car. At least in my case, I don't think the experience of a full test drive would be THAT much more valuable at this point than a close encounter with a parked X. I can wait for my own.

Did everyone who got an invite get an invite to both or is the test drive invite to a select group in select locations?

Odd, I just got mine like 2 minutes ago. But it's for 2/26. Wondering why I got it so late, considering I'm in the P11xx range. And actually have a confirmed order.

I accepted and am waiting for confirmation.

I got my email on Jan 23rd and I am 8009. Not sure if the 26th was available to me but I picked the first one that came up which was Sat at 9:15.
My order is not placed/confirmed yet.

Should Tesla prioritize Model 3 potential customers instead of Model X actual customers for any Model X related events?
The mismatch marketing should be part of excellent customer service?

I think it's totally correct direction that Tesla satisfies existing Model X customers first, then soon tobe X customers, then potential X customers, then potential 3 customers, and finally the mass unknown and non-potential customers.

I really want a Tesla (Model 3), but stories like this are not encouraging. This seems ridiculous for a company proudly claiming excellent customer service.
