Mid Range waiting room

Hello! Long time lurker...First time buyer!

I had a reservation from June 2017, but when I went to purchase the MR on 10/27 it created a new order but it didn't use the reservation. When I spoke with Tesla they told me it didn't matter and refunded my $1000. I'm on the East Coast as are many others here and am hoping for the best!

Just a question in the meantime...At some point (hopefully a long time in the future) the car will need a new battery. Would it be possible to swap out the MR battery for the LR battery?

I think that is a good possibility. The hardware is all the same minus less cells. I am sure you can reload the software and with the bigger battery turn it to LR. However, with proper charge management, 20-80% charge and low power, this battery will last 500K miles easy before you see big degradation. With improper management, 0-100% with frequent Supercharging, 100K miles.

got the referral code in my order screen like others.

Question about the insurance part of the reservation. I spoke to my insurance company and they really can't give me ID cards without the vin # does Tesla really care about this part?? some other have said they uploaded "any" of their cars insurance to Tesla for this step. seems odd this would be all they are looking for. Thanks. Doug

In my last year's experience purchasing Model S, this wasn't necessary. I provided my insurance information AFTER my delivery date was scheduled. Not sure if it's any different now. If you have a current insurance for any car, just provide that for now, so you could get the check-mark and the Submit button, though I am not sure that even matters.

From the Tesla FAQ:

Do I need to have my insurance policy active for my Tesla before delivery?

Some states require that your insurance for your Tesla be active by delivery. Your Delivery Experience Specialist will let you know if this is required. If you are financing with Tesla, you will need to provide proof of an active insurance policy for your Tesla by the time of delivery, regardless of state.

I'm in one of the states where you don't need to buy insurance at the time of purchase (24 hours to add it in my case), so my current card worked just fine.

The Edit button disappeared shortly after my order, can't say exactly when.
I got the text from the DA and now it has the appointment details on the right side.

Had previously checked off all options, paying cash, no trade in, uploaded proof of insurance or my current car.

Can't use the App yet, no referral options, no VIN, still "We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment".

Exciting stuff. Sounds like they are coming in batches. The preference mostly has been with reservation holders and line waiters for now.
They must be having these Mid range batteries on hand and they just need to build them in the car?

Congrats to both of you! Were you both reservation holders or not? Curious to know...

This gives me some measure of peace seeing 12/4 as an East Coast Delivery date. I ordered on 10/23 and don't feel like 5 days later should translate into more than 4 weeks later delivery time...I hope!

I was a reservation holder and ordered 10/18 and am in LA. Haven’t heard a thing!
