So from what others have said the full kit used to have the 5-15 as well as the 14-50 adapter?
After a billion edits of this reply, I found the answer. The 14-50 adapter was dropped from the mobile connector in May 2019. Ever since, it's just been the 5-15 and the J1772.
i know what you mean but think of it this way - you have one at home and one on the go so you dont have to transfer your cable back and forth.
Absolutely. And for anyone using the 14-50 adapter, make sure you don't try to unplug and replug that thing over and over again. The 14-50 outlets were designed for dryers, so they don't tolerate a lot of mechanical stress. I looked it up once and the limit is around 200 or 300 times if I recall correctly.

As a reminder, there are three Level 2 charging options.

1. 32 amps using the mobile connector with the 14-50 adapter.
2. 40 amps using the corded connector with a builtin 14-50 plug.
3. 48 amps using the wall connector which is hardwired to the power source.

My car came with a mobile connector. I bought a 14-50 adapter to add to it, and I leave that package in the car. For home use, I use the corded connector. The 40 amps that it supplies is plenty for overnight charging.

Mobile connector shows back in stock on the Tesla website.

also who knows if theyll charge you restocking fees
Update: Tesla customer services claims the current mobile connector is “different“ which is why the one I ordered in May is backordered - here’s exactly what they said: “The current Mobile Connector is slightly modified and notably comes with an additional NEMA 14-50 adapter.”

Notably, the mobile connector I ordered in May also included a 14-50 adapter (and I sent them a screen shot of my order confirmation as proof).

I honestly think there’s no difference and the “included” 14-50 adapter are just a ruse to justify why they dropped the ball on not shipping an item I ordered more than four months ago.

Anyway, I ordered the “new” mobile connector (which shows to be in stock) and asked them to cancel my original order. Let’s see what happens…

Cool. I'm going to have to learn what all that means before I take delivery

That’s a little expensive. I got one for $60 for 4x the space on Amazon and 5gb/s transfer speed:

Another option is this pair for $42, which is what I have in my car. It's been recommended elsewhere, is USB-A and is also teeny tiny.

SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD Card Reader

SanDisk 128GB MAX Endurance microSDXC Card

I hate to tell you, but that is 5gbit/s not gigabyte. So about 625 MB/s. Still a decent deal. Also not a fan of the connection it has. Prefer usb-c.
