Have you talked to your SA? I spoke to mine today who looked for an exact match to get earlier delivery but none available. Inventory on website shows. If that is Tesla playing games (in my opinion). I don’t think all vehicles shown actually exist at exact location.
I believe the online inventory is not accurate. When I ordered mine, I chose it from the local online inventory and was immediately assigned a VIN. It was the only car with that exact configuration listed. However, that particular car/configuration, never disappeared from their inventory. It's still there today and this was over a week ago I ordered it. Perhaps they are sending another one? Who knows.

Really getting frustrated with Tesla to be completely honest. I was given an automated delivery date of either December 18 or 19th. I was then called by a rep saying that is not possible and the earliest I can get it is the 21st or 22nd. Fine, I schedule for the 22nd. I decided to call the location for my pickup on the 18th and they told me they just got the car and just need to take a quick look at it and I can come get it. Awesome.

Hour later I get a call saying there is a dent in the bumper that will need to be buffed out on Monday since the service team isn't able to do it that day. They warn me that if the team cannot buff it out without damaging the paint then it will need to go to the bodyshop. Lo and behold on Monday, it needs to be sent to the bodyshop. They explain to me again its just a dent in the bumper and will need to take the bumper off, buff it out and possibly clean up the paint. They proceed to tell me this will take over a week??? I was told it left for the repair shop Monday morning already. I then sent an email later in the day asking for pictures of before and after. I get a reply this morning saying they will try but its likely the repair has already started. I talked to multiple friends who work at other dealerships (BMW, Audi) and they said transport damage is normal but the estimated time for repair, especially for what they described, seems incredibly long.

At this point I am growing extremely frustrated because it ruined my Christmas plans as I do not currently have a vehicle. I have not seen my parents in weeks and we have been taking tests and precautions to ensure Christmas is safe, but now that is jeopardy because commuting is 2.5 hours one way. The rep I am emailing with said he will check in with service and then never replied to me. He has not been helpful at all. I dealt with someone else over the weekend when I called in and they actually attempted to help saying they will look for the same build that wasn't delivered to someone yet.

I am just having a hard time comprehending how removing a bumper, buffing a dent out and possibly painting it takes over a week?
When they are trying to delivery so many cars in such a short period, they are probably super backed up at the body shop too. Plus, it's the holidays. Plus there's a world wide pandemic. It makes sense to me that it would take longer than usual for something like this. Hang in there. Just rent a car for the holidays and go see your fam

It feels like it is a virtual car lot :). You show up to see what you like and some people will buy the inventory. The local SAs can try to work their network of local galleries to produce that particular vehicle. If that can't happen, they move you into a custom order.

I like the process and am definitely not wanting it to feel like a traditional car experience.

Well, kind of, except there are lots of times where you look at the local inventory and it's empty. For instance, there are no model S or X available locally in Cincinnati right now. And there are only a couple demo performance Y's available in other nearby cities. Lots of Model 3's still there though.

I did notice that from time to time on the S and X from my local area (Philly). One thing I did notice, when I put in parameters for the search - black interior - it sometimes shows different options. There seems to be a glitch in their tracking/reporting of inventory that they want to show. I could do the same search one minute apart and get different results.

Oh well! I guess that is part of the fun - kills time while waiting for delivery day HAHA

I just took a cashiers check, and only gave it to them after I checked out the car. Then sent me the online link for connecting my bank account and such.
So you gave them your bank account after the cashier's check??? It'd defeat the purpose of a check if you're giving them access to your account anyway. Confused on what you did. I accepted doing a one-time debit to my account, and deleting info immediately after making the charge. And no log-in information required. It's been a royal PITA to deal with these people, and not only with that. My wife wants me to cancel the order, and buy a pristine used 2021 in a few months from Carvana, Vroom, etc. We'll see what happens.

I have an 859xxx that was produced on 12/13. I see you had an 860xxx produced three days earlier. This shows that VIN does not necessarily correlate to born date. I pick up my M3LR on Monday so we'll see if she has the new lights.
I wouldn't take that production date as fact brother, since the SA gave it to me. But now I'm curious if Tesla skips VINs, rather than being sequential. As far as the lights, I'm 99.9% sure your car will have the old ones man. The earliest VIN with new headlights is 863xxx, and even that's debatable; 869s for sure have them. Sorry for the bad news :).
