something doesn't add up.. 6 months lag is too long.. hope Tesla is not recycling demo cars to go green in Q3.. proceed with caution and if you are not happy/comfortable reject it and they might do another quick match for you.

So as it turns out... the day before the schedule delivery date is I got a text and said the car is needing a repair and waiting on parts to arrived. I proceeded to email to my IDA about it. I got call the next day saying the car is damage and he needs to order another one from the factory, and will be another 2-4 weeks. I have already paid of the car and fund has already transfer!! Since I have already sold the other car that I had in order to get the Tesla. I am down to 1 car. Tesla did set me up with a rental for the time being... But still. I already paid in full but NO CAR.... no idea when I will get the VIN # or the next delivery date.

If you have ordered a Model 3 LR AWD or Performance between 27-30 June 2018 and have not received a VIN or a delivery date yet, read on. Tesla seems to have overlooked this group because people who ordered after 30 June are at a much higher completion rate. You might say of course people who have a reservation will get their car sooner compared to without a reservation. No, that's not related. The table below shows only non-reservation holders. Let me make it very clear:
  • 4% of Model 3 LR AWD configurations between 27-30 June 2018 without the $1,000 reservation have a VIN or a delivery date.
  • 47% of Model 3 LR AWD configurations after 30 June 2018 without the $1,000 reservation have a VIN or a delivery date.
Notice that neither of these groups has a reservation. This is not related to those who have the $1,000 reservation. They are fine. This affects only non-reservation holders who configured by 30 June. Why did this happen? Looking at the dates, my guess is, this is a database query error. There are two important dates here:
  • On 27 June 2018, the Model 3 configurator went public
  • On 30 June 2018, Tesla removed the $1,000 reservation feature from the website
However, you could order the Model 3 between 27-30 June without the $1,000 reservation even though the reservation feature was still on the website. Now they are ignoring this group. It looks like just because the reservation feature was available on the website until 30 June, somebody at Tesla is assuming that it was necessary to reserve until that feature was removed. That's not the case.

I noticed this problem when the percentages were 4% vs 32% and tweeted it here but it didn't catch Tesla's attention. I tried again at 4% vs 43% here. Currently, we are at 4% vs 47% and rising. I'm watching this and will tweet in the next few days if the issue continues.

@Vic4Model3, can you open the form and change the configuration date to 19 Aug 2018 inside the form too? It still shows your old Model 3 LR date. Thanks

@BobCio, if you want to change any date to null, enter Jan 1st, 2017. There is a bug in Google forms. You can't remove dates once you enter them. Therefore I added this special setting. This is also explained on the form. Thanks

@tink00, if you want to add your data, HERE is the link to the Google form that we use to enter and edit entries. This link is also available in the opening message of this thread and on top of the All Entries tab in the sheet. There is only one form and only one link to the form for all users. To edit your data, open the form again and click 'Edit your response'. Thanks

They did see my order, mentioning that it's fully loaded, except for the FSD. They saw our payment, know our address, etc... Still nothing - told to just wait, he's sure I'll be hearing something any day now. I still, today, have my edit button. He said don't pay attention to what I'm reading on the Internet, that it's typical for orders to take as long as mine. He said I won't have a designated person for my order yet, not until I get assigned a VIN and delivery date. And, again, we've been owners since 2013 and have now had 3 Teslas. We're also just 2 hours from the factory.
You got bullshitted. Something has gone wrong with your order. You should have had an assigned "delivery advisor", and no, it's not typical for a Performance which was finalized on 6/30 for a California delivery to take this long.

Don't let them lie to you. Next time you get the soothing bullshit, escalate further. If necessary, tell the person on the phone that he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about and that you need to talk to his manager. This may take a few hours on the phone.

VIN: 49,9xx

Thank you to Troy for curating and managing this excellent tracker. Thank you to /u/neroden for being such a strong owner advocate and encouraging me to push through all the bull and get scheduled.

Well, FINALLY, I got a text last night: "Hello from the Tesla Delivery team. Our logistics team has confirmed a Model 3 matching your order is available for this week. Are you available to take delivery between 9/26 - 9/30?" I responded yes right away. Then this morning I got this message: "Thank you for confirming your availability this weekend. We will reach out to schedule your appointment as soon as we get a firm date on when your vehicle will be ready for delivery."
On my Tesla portal, nothing has changed. It still has the edit button. We shall see what happens. I'm hopeful we'll get it this weekend.

I am in the exact same boat. I received a text Tuesday night, replied and received the same reply as you. Portal is also showing nothing. I called Tesla just now and she was going to reach out to my assigned delivery advisor if she can figure that out and have them reach out to me. I feel like Tesla was casting a wide net to match as many cars with as many people as possible, but it is still highly likely many of us will fall through the cracks and not take delivery this weekend.

@TSLA_Hopeful,

Estimating deliveries is difficult. Estimating production is easier because we have VIN data. However, I don't have that kind of reliable data for deliveries. Therefore my production estimate in Q2 was more accurate than deliveries. I will look at all the data again and update my estimates here by the end of 30th. This link opens to a survey where people enter their Q3 production and delivery estimates. So far 17 people submitted their estimates. Estimates can be changed until the end of 30th, Pacific Time. I would be happy with 95%+ accuracy for production and 90%+ for deliveries.

What do you think would cause the 4% to be anything higher than 0%?

It's kind of odd. I've been waiting for my performance Model 3 AWD WITHOUT performance package and I just finally got assigned a VIN in the 559xx range. I reserved this one August 1st. I was a previous model S and LR model 3 owner. I wonder if this one has been sitting on the lot for a long time.

I'm approaching the middle of my 2-4pm PDT "Fremont Home Delivery" window for my 3P-. I just checked my account and my window disappeared, reverting to:

upload_2018-9-28_14-47-47.png

Of course I kind of freaked out because I have to take Q3 delivery of this so $TSLA will pay-off the remaining 6 months on my 3/22/2016 X P90D lease and the disposition fee, and free supercharging which is tertiary.

So I called my Inside Support Advisor in Vegas and he assured me a Delivery Specialist is assigned to my vehicle, I'm still on the schedule, and she will be here, and pick-up my X to return it for me.

The other thing that's weird is my account still says:
upload_2018-9-28_14-50-40.png

I entered my delivery appointment on the tracking spreadsheet without a VIN and VIN assignment date. Hope my "surprise VIN" is over 100K.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Wanted to share my experience now that I have taken delivery as per the details below:
On Sept 21st I received a surprise email saying that my Tesla was available for pickup and to call to arrange a delivery time between 9/23 and 9/30. Like many of you I had been checking the Tesla website daily (often!) to see if there had been any change to my account. Up until and After I got that call the Tesla Account said Sept-Nov 2018.
Pretty happy at that point I waited impatiently for the paperwork to get my bank draft the next day....A few calls later....and again the next morning...No paperwork...just the estimated final cost.
So, taking a chance I went to the bank 9/22 and got a draft for the Estimated amount.
Called again, checked website...
9/23, Took the dang public bus with the family to the delivery location...no paperwork still
-Met front desk girl who pointed me to the orientation area where a Tesla employee walked us through a few videos....then we got to ask..
"What is the process?"....Response..
"Oh, someone will be with you shortly with your paperwork, you will sign the contract, go to a table over in the corner where the insurance agent will get you plates and insurance"
Within a couple minutes a Tesla employee came over and we went through....the fabled paperwork....which they had got about an hour before the delivery time...and the bank draft was right..."Did you want to see the car?"....UH Yah!
Spent time with ICBC (Insurance guy)...remember to bring a void cheque or you get to pay the full years worth of insurance!
They didnt have optional insurance for Collision/Comprehensive but they had Aviva for Replacement Insurance which was the same cost for 2 years as ICBC for 1 year...

Hand the plates over to a guy doing nothing but that job....checked out the car...Hmm perfect...Forum had me scared stiff but it was perfect!
Took pictures and waited while a Volunteer started going through some of the things as I sat in the car...which was more helpful than any video....then I waited...Hmm...what do I do now? Asked the volunteer...No idea...Front desk...No idea but called Tesla guy that had contract...wait..."Oh...sorry...you're waiting... You're done!"

Drove away in my new Model 3.....

It was the weirdest experience...in some ways, disorganized as hell, but pretty impressive from notification to driving away...

It's 5 days later...what a beautiful car....hope Musk can get his poop together and keep this company on the edge!

3 hours have passed since end of my delivery window so I call Fremont Delivery Center for help:
  1. "Home delivery service is a new function being run out of a different facility on Kato Road and we've been getting lots of calls today from customers with issues." It's the same place they ran the "come on down and pick a car off the lot" a few weeks ago. Used to be the Fremont Service Center location.

  2. They never matched you with a VIN to generate final MVPA not sure if they know how to do that.

  3. I'll ask my FDC VIN assignment person to try to find a 3P- for you matching your config,

  4. me: "Great. I'd be happy to stop by over the weekend to turn in my early off-lease X and pick-up the Model 3 if she finds one."

  5. resolution: "We found 2 exact matches except interior is black instead of white". Since black is more durable than white, I told him to lock up the largest VIN of those two and we'll be down to check it out in 30-45 mins.

  6. He said: "Be prepared for a long night."

$TSLA's foobar "Tesla Direct" VIN assignment and courier delivery service cost them $11,500 Friday night. (BTW, I have the "Tesla Direct Hotline" internal number for Fremont PM me if you need it.)

[Quoted from Tesla Direct - Courier Checklist]
"Delivery Day - The Customer Handoff

The goal of the customer handoff is to provide your customer with the information that they need to get on the road and start enjoying their new Tesla in 5 minutes or less!"

My story:

First I stopped by 47400 Kato Road where they are running said "Tesla Direct" service which didn't show-up Friday 2-4pm nor 3 hours late to my home, never called me, never assigned a VIN, etc. etc. I spoke to a manager who apologized. He claimed they could deliver my 3P- White/White over the weekend. I pressed him for a VIN, but he couldn't give me one!

On to FDC: the Fremont Delivery Center!

After I complained about being stood up by "Tesla Direct" Fri PM, they had said over the phone they found two P3- White/Black interior we could check out. Upon arrival, it turns out they could only find a White/Black interior 3 AWD - not performance.

They still accepted our 3/22/2016 6-month early lease return Model X P90D in exchange for my buying this VIN 0938## Model 3 AWD white/black/EAP 9/2018 manufacture date with only 8 miles on the odometer! I used the awesome www.teslachecklists.com/model-3-delivery-checklist while waiting in the car for paperwork with a bright flashlight and I couldn't find any faults or panel gap issues at all with it. I saved $11,500 + 9.25% sales tax in return for 0-60 in 4.5 sec max. instead of 3.1-3.5 sec. Perhaps I can even pay to "uncork" the vehicle someday, too.

Anyway, the people over at FDC treated us great. They got a big laugh when I told them I took more than a Model 3 paper loss on $TSLA today.

We were the last customers to leave at midnight! The company gave their employees free Uber rides home since BART is too dangerous to take late at night.

I overheard one employee tell another one they delivered almost 250 vehicles on Friday, and are scheduled to deliver 450 more on Saturday alone!

This doesn't count the people who really get home deliveries out of the Kato Road "Tesla Direct" location. There are tons of cars there, too, and many people working out of that facility.

The lesson is it pays to be aggressive. If you live in the Bay Area, don't have an appt. but want a car this weekend, just call:

Fremont Delivery Center
Phone: (510) 897-4860
47623 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538

to see if they can assign one to you. The person who helped me said she was responsible for 5 sales on Friday that wouldn't have happened otherwise. (She normally works in Corp. Finance.) It's all hands on deck!

PS. Tesla's customer website is still hosed. Now my account says:

upload_2018-9-29_1-20-54.png

I have a VIN but it doesn't know that I've already taken delivery! I don't care because my phone app is working.

Here are my final estimates for Q3 2018:

Production:
Model S&X: 26,306
Model 3: 52,582
Total: 78,888 units

Deliveries:
Model S: 12,854
Model X: 12,454
Model 3: 55,298
Total: 80,606 units

I will measure the accuracy in a few days when Tesla releases the actual numbers. I would expect 96% or higher accuracy for production and 90% or higher for delivery estimates.

By the way, there is a survey here where you can enter your estimates until the end of the quarter, Pacific Time. Currently, there are 26 entries.
