Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Hi all. So here is my story. I have a 2021 M3LR that I got this summer, and I am selling to buy a M3P (making a pretty good profit for only being a few months old, so I am dropping that cash right into the new M3P)

2022 M3P Black on black
Ordered 10/31/2021
VIN receive 11/10/2021
EDD Nov 21-27

Super excited! The worst part of waiting is constantly checking the account page for updates. Cheers!
Congrats. Did the same! Totally unplanned. 😂😂

@jwb2781 - I can’t speak too much about the exact performance of the M3P other than a few test drives. However I did have the acceleration boost on M3LR and loved it.

M3P - all the obvious - spoiler, 20” wheel, 1” lower suspension, better brakes and tack mode. But the ride is just a bit harsher and it’s more expensive.

M3LR with AB was a blast. More comfortable and just a tinny bit slower but still plenty fast.

The only reason that I’m now taking delivery of the M3P is because I had an old reservation and I sold the M3LR for a profit.

I think the M3P is nice to have but personally I think M3LR AB is awesome and plenty fast for everyday use with more comfort and lower tire replacement cost.

M3P white with black interior to west coast of Canada.
10/14 Ordered with EDD: 10/26-11/23
10/25 new EDD: 10/28-11/09
10/28 new EDD 10/31-11/23
10/28 new EDD 10/31-11/04 (ok’d vision agreement)
10/29 - received email that I can schedule pickup for Nov 6. Able to see my VIN in the source code. Still a 2021 model year, so I’m going to wait a bit longer for a 22.
11/03 - clicked “I’m ready” now that 2022s are being made
11/05 - EDD 11/08 - 11/22
11/08 - EDD 11/12 - 12/08
11/09 - EDD 11/11 - 11/17 and VIN now in source code (2022)

Smart to wait a handful of days and get a 2022 instead of 2021.

Never had a LR myself.
A buddy that went from LR to M3P says it's DEFINITELY worth it, esp. 0-60.
The roll races after 30 are quite similar from M3P and LR but the 0-60 part is what he likes the most.
Was the LR with $2k acceleration boost? Yes M3P is def “faster” but I think the acceleration boost upgrade gets pretty close and without the higher cost if one values the comfort over the appearance/track mode of the M3P.

D'oh! New EDD as of today 2021/11/08: 2021/11/28 - 2021/12/26. No VIN yet.
Saw a weird message in the Tesla app: "Tesla is making changes that impact your order. Review details in your Tesla Account before proceeding."

It's the Tesla Vision "Since May 2021..." disclaimer and the "Accept and Proceed with Delivery" button. Not crazy about some of the temporary limitations mentioned because if this was created in May 2021, the "in the weeks ahead" part should have been over by now.

For a short period during this transition, cars with Tesla Vision may be delivered with some features temporarily limited or inactive, including:
  • Autosteer will be limited to a maximum speed of 80 mph and a longer minimum following distance.
In the weeks ahead, we’ll start restoring these features via a series of over-the-air software updates. All other available Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features will be active at delivery, depending on order configuration.

Read the agreement, accepted and have a VIN containing "NF" so it's a 2022, plus a new EDD of 2021/11/14-2021/11/20!

What makes going from a 2021 m3lr to a m3p worth it? I am on the fence, and question the extra money vs paying $2K for performance boost..
I like the bigger wheels, spoiler, and the speed. But honestly, I had no intention of doing this until I learned how insane the used car market is right now- particularly for the Model 3. Still paying more money to upgrade to a M3P, but I felt the deal was just too good to pass up lol

Performance boost only gets you half way to the speed of the performance. Track mode is only available on P. lowered suspension on P, bigger wheels and better tires, spoiler.

For me I want the fastest 3 I can have. And I really wanted track mode.
