Tesla was #2 as far as trade in Value. Depending on the state, sometimes the trade-ins are not subject to sales tax (TX here).

Unfortunately VA is not one of the tax friendly states. They don't credit the trade in amount to exempt from taxes. Carvana offer the most form over 6 I tried. closest was $2k less. Since I still need my car all next week for work I can't sell it to them until I have the Tesla in hand. Then I can use what I get from my Type R to refinance. Just need to know when to send the down payment the loan wants. My CU is already attached to my account so it should be just tell them to send $xx and be done. I don't trust Tesla to tell me the truth. They will probably say send it now.

@Ace_23 - did you complete all your Pre-Delivery tasks in the app? One tip I saw, and did, was make order to pay off cash, even though I will finance half when I take delivery. My delivery window changed overnight from OD:5/1, to the first window: 6/5-7/10.

Aaaaaand my 3pm delivery was canceled. The car is stuck on a train or in the Joliet train depot. Might get in tonight, tomorrow, next week — nobody knows. Anybody else find this process oddly similar to expecting a child?

When are most paying the down payment that's required? Financing thru Tesla. Scheduled pick up date is the 6th. Loan says I need to put $XXX down. I don't want to send it too early and have then have some issue come up and no car shows up or it's damaged and can't be delivered on the 6th. I'll refinance thru DCU after I sell my car. Tesla offer was way too low.

I paid four days prior to delivery.

Got my car ceramic coated and debadged, apparently the badges were covering scratched off paint. Luckily its small enough to use paint repair but figured I’d share my experience for anyone else planning to debadge.

Car looks AMAZING! Did you do a clay bar / paint correction before the ceramic coating? How much did it cost if you dont mind me asking? I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
