I think the difference is that the RC cars have MFG, Manufacturer, plates, and the production cars have had DLR, Dealer, plates.

This confirmed production one at least had MFG plates as far as I can make out.

X looks massive and 3 looks tiny. Definitely some weird angle perspective distortion going on. The back wheel on the 3 looks much smaller than the front one and we know that is not true.

Telephoto from a significant distance with high zoom. All perspective goes away, so even though the X is further away, it's proportionally a meaningless increase in distance and so the ratio of heights doesn't change. From closer up, we're used to seeing further vehicles look smaller, so that makes the X look larger in the picture.

Better to have it there if the car gets into trouble than to put it there in the cold.
