I just ordered this plate for Model S (p2855). The order confirmation email said Nov/Dec delivery from Tesla, but who really knows ?!? I'm sure I'll get the plates before the car.

Clever, smd! Yeah, it's a pain if you get the plates before you get the car. Fremont DMV didn't let me simply "retain" the new plates that I got; I had to do some musical chairs and assign them to my wife's car while retaining the older vanity plates that her car already had! I'll have to sort of reverse all of this when my S arrives.

By the way, after much imploring from my wife, I've decided not to tempt fate (to quote ckessel) and am going to refrain from applying OILSTNX to the S lest I piss someone off enough that they'll resort to some nasty stuff. So, these plates will come off my wife's car and end up with the DMV:

Ordered these instead in late August - VISHY is a short form of my son's name and sorta' rhymes with EV - and they should be arriving sometime in November:
