At 50mph, 16feet can be covered in 0.2seconds.
That would be a massive swerve if it was perpendicular to the vehicles trajectory. You can go 200 mph foward and inch towards the side at a snails pace. So the 0.2s is not a valid value here. I'd venture to say a normal lane change takes at least about 3s, covering about 16-20 ft laterally. That is significantly slower.
I second the car needs radar on the corners though.
