I received the following exciting email about 1 hour ago!!!

I live about 20 miles from the factory and presume others in the Bay Area also received a similar email. I am P197.

My car: Performance, 85kWh, black & black, glossy Obeche, no spoiler, twin chargers, parcel shelf, 21" silver wheels, pano roof, tech and sound packages.

Unfortunately, I can't pick the car up until mid next week and have asked if they will be having more events next week. If not, hopefully delivery won't be too far away.

No VIN yet.

You are receiving this email because we have some very exciting news for you.
Your Model S is finished and ready for delivery!

We are ramping up production and this has created a wave of cars becoming available in our local market. To get these cars in the hands of our customers as quickly as possible, we are holding delivery events this Thursday, Friday and throughout the weekend at the Tesla Factory in Fremont.

If you would like to take immediate delivery at the factory, we can schedule you an appointment for this Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We are scheduling deliveries at 9am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm on all four days. Joining us for a factory delivery event will enable us to deliver your car as soon as possible and the Factory Tour is a unique experience!

For those who cannot make it to one of our delivery events, we are happy to schedule personal delivery at the location of your choice. Let us know when you are available and we'll do our best to deliver your car to you as soon as possible.

Please respond to this email and let us know if you'd like to join us for one of our Factory Delivery events this weekend or if you'd prefer to schedule Tesla Personal Delivery at the location of your choice.

If you're up for Factory Delivery, please let us know the day and time is most convenient for you and we'll follow up to confirm.

If you'd prefer Tesla Personal Delivery, please provide your preference on time and location. One of our Delivery Specialists will follow up with you to schedule your delivery.

Let's get you behind the wheel of your new Model S!

I am P1117 and just got an
Email that they are still hopeful that my car can get to me this year, but might be early January. I'm a perf model. This is my birthday, so certainly not the b-day email I was hoping for from Tesla!!

Sorry to hear it, Teslaguy. Hopefully you still get yours this year, or at least before the $3500 PA rebates run out. If you slip to January, the chance of ours being on the same truck suddenly becomes very real...shocking for a difference of almost 4000 sequence numbers!

What's your configuration, @austinm3? Various theories of causation of delay are: Performance, CF interior trim, 21" wheels. It's also possible that Texas is being difficult about something (taking a WAG that you live in Austin ;-) )

Texas antiquated laws are not causing a delay. They do create extra steps for Texas buyers, (i.e. having to run down to the tax office to pay your own sales tax and pick up license plates and registration), but other than that PITA it is the same.

Oh...and a Delivery Specialist cannot be present to deliver the car. The third party delivery company delivers the car and Texas law is met.

+1 STxTesla - My car is done and ready. I just have to beam funds over today or tomorrow. So it is not a Texas thing. And, if you really look at it closer, the Texas thing actually is advantageous in two ways:

(1) No Dealer Specialist to have to coordinate
(2) No paperwork to be done by Tesla at the location of delivery (sort of a modification of #1)

What this means ... is that the vehicle gets here when it can, as long as you have forked over the cash. No other moving parts or variables. It is a bit of a pain initially, until you get it figured out. But, as I have posted earlier, something else will come up, and those in, say, the P2XXX range will have some other state ruined shenanigans to deal with.

We shall see....

My P1577 has none of these (Dolphin gray, 85 non-perf, black leather, piano black, pano, 19", tech, sound, air suspension), and it sounded like they may not have even started manufacturing mine yet. With yours and P3833(!) pretty much ready for delivery, there's clearly something else causing wild swings.

How cars almost 4000 back in sequence are ready for delivery while early Ps haven't heard anything is a mystery for me. I would hazard to guess that some of the early Ps reserved a year earlier than those getting delivery notification.

Suggestion to Tesla: If this wildly random production sequencing is expected to continue, get rid of the sequence numbering system altogether. It appears to be mostly useless and does nothing but disappoint your customers.

Congrats to those getting emails! Hoping for one soon.

P210 and still no email. Well, I got an email just not the one I was expecting.... An email saying the coming price increase would not affect me.

Seeing an email from them was kind of a tease :)
I got the same one - I almost fell off my chair when I actaully got an email from Tesla! Well, at least we don't have to eat a price increase! I was beginning to wonder whether or not they lost some of our contracts. I'd like to have a little time to arrange financing and insurance before they tell me my car is ready! Steve.
